Vibrant Pop Out Folk Christmas | Jenny Colacicco

Vibrant Pop Out Folk Christmas | Jenny Colacicco

Hi Everyone!  Jenny here, and today I'm featuring a card project created using the Pop Out Folk Christmas Cling Stamp and coordinating die.

For this project I wanted to move away from my usual color combos so I grabbed my handy color wheel that I have near my desk for inspiration.  Blue-violet and yellow-orange are directly opposite each other on the color wheel,  and considered to be complementary colors.  I thought I'd try and create a vibrant card using these colors, unusual for the holidays but why not?!

To create my card, I stamped the Pop Out Folk Christmas two or three times in alcohol safe ink onto white cardstock.  On one panel I colored in all of the images that will be die cut by the co-ordinating die including the Christmas balls, the reindeer, the birds and the leaves, using blue-violet Copic markers BV29, BV17,  BV34. I also used some gold gel pen to decorate some of the details.  The Copics I used are below.

On a second stamped panel, I colored the entire panel with Y18,  then outlined the main images with Y38  to create a darker halo, then blended it out. I also went into the holly leaves and added the BV Copics again.  I added touches of gold gel pen on the yellow panel also.

I die cut the blue-violet images out and trimmed out the reindeer.  On those with a white border, I edged them with the yellow Copic to blend with the background. I popped the die cut images up on top of the yellow background using foam squares and then backed the panel onto a white notecard.

To finish, I added the final sentiment by die cutting the word 'Greetings' using the Phrase Builder Happy Holidays sentiment dies from shiny black cardstock and adhered it with glue to the front.

I really liked how this turned out in the end - I like to go for non-traditional colors and this one is very different to my usual.  I highly recommend pulling out that color wheel for inspiration!
