Creating a Rainbow Burst with Patterned Papers | Eva Pizarro

Creating a Rainbow Burst with Patterned Papers | Eva Pizarro

10 Mar 2026 0 Comments

Hello everyone! It’s Eva here today, sharing a colorful layout using the Legendary collection.

For this design, I created a rainbow-style “ray of light” that radiates across the page. It’s a fun way to feature multiple patterned papers at once and add a bright, playful focal point to the layout.

Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Cut a triangle at the base of your layout, starting about 2 inches above the bottom edge of the page and extending toward the upper part of the layout.
    2. Place a sheet of printer paper behind the opening and draw your rainbow rays.
    3. Cut out the rays from the printer paper and use them as templates to cut the different patterned papers. Leave a small margin on the sides and bottom to make sure everything is fully covered.
    4. Arrange the patterned papers to form the rainbow rays, gently creasing the edges for a bit of extra dimension.
    5. Add your photos near the bottom of the layout and include the title using the Chipboard Shapes.
    6. Finish the layout with a few florals made with the Garden Party Die and tuck small journaling spots along each rainbow color.

Tip: If you want a cleaner look, keep the rays in a similar width. If you prefer a more playful design, vary the width of each strip for added movement.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope this layout inspires you to play with patterned papers in a fun and colorful way!

    Have a great day,
    Eva
