Hello friends ! Susi here, back on the Pinkfresh Studio blog with a new 12 x 12 scrapbook layout created with the Legendary collection. For this project, I was inspired by direction, movement and adventure, and what better way to represent that than with bold stitched arrows guiding the eye across the page? 

The stitching details and a few of the color choices also make this design a great fit for the current monthly challenge theme, Sew Much Fun, adding a playful nod to creative stitching throughout the layout.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Create the arrows. Using patterned papers from the Legendary collection, cut multiple arrow shapes in different sizes and colors. Mix bold patterns with softer designs to create contrast and visual rhythm.
2. Add stitched texture and dimension. Some of the arrows are adhered directly to the base of the layout, while others are first attached to small pieces of white cardstock and then placed on the page. After adhering the arrows to the page, hand-stitch around the edges using coordinating thread colors to enhance the handmade feel. Reserve a few arrows to adhere using 3D foam adhesive underneath. This added dimension creates depth and makes the composition more dynamic.
3. Build the composition. Arrange the arrows vertically along the left side of the page, slightly overlapping them to create movement. Make sure they visually guide the eye toward the right side, where the photo will be placed.
4. Place the photo. Position your photo on the right side of the layout to balance the strong arrow composition. Add small embellishments around it to integrate it into the overall design.
5. Add titles and details. Use chipboard titles, phrase stickers, cardstock stickers, puffy stickers... to build dimension and reinforce the travel theme.
6. Final touches. Finish the page with Enamel Dots and small star accents from Lovely Lane collection to create movement and connect the two main areas of the layout.

Quick Tip

You can also let a few arrow extend slightly beyond the visual line of the composition to give the feeling that the journey continues beyond the page.
