Shiny 3D-Christmas Lights Effect with Clear Drops | Kathleen Schmelz

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! It's Kathleen back with you and I have a super fun, sparkly card to share today! Do you know that feeling when an idea you have for a project turns out even better than expected, Isn't that just the best?

When I looked at the Christmas Lights coverplate die, I wanted to find a way to make them look like actual little lights. So I tried backing the openings with different colors of our Clear Drops, and it worked so great!

Here's how you can make this card:

1. Card Base: Cut and score an A2 card base (top or side-folding; although I prefer top-folding in this case) from white cardstock.
   
2. Panel: Cut an A2 panel from white cardstock & die cut with the Christmas Lights coverplate die.
3. Ink Blending: Very lightly ink blend Misty Coast over Stencil 1+2 from the Christmas Lights stencils directly onto the card front. This will serve as a guide for placing the Clear Drops.
4. Adding the Lights: Adhere the largest drop size from different colors of Clear Drops, covering the ink-blended lights (I used Iridescent, Amber, Champagne, Blush, Magenta, and Scarlet).
5. Foam Adhesive: Add thick foam adhesive (I used 3mm) to the back of the coverplate die, leaving enough space around the openings for the Clear Drops; adhere onto card front.
6. Add a sentiment:
   1. Die cut a banner using the Basic Banners die from light red cardstock (or ink blend white cardstock with Passion Fruit). Adhere centered on card front using foam adhesive.
   2. Die cut the letters for JOY with the Kaitlin Alpha die from Glitter Cardstock (Magenta, Blush, Champagne) & adhere them to white shadow layers. Add on top of the banner.
      

Even though this card does take a little bit of time, placing all these Clear Drops, it's not very difficult to make and felt very therapeutic. It's also the perfect way to use up some of the largest Clear Drops. I don't know about you, but I always tend to use the smallest or medium-sized ones the most.
