Russet/Indigo Vines Stenciled Wreath | Anne Fiene

Russet/Indigo Vines Stenciled Wreath | Anne Fiene

Hi folks! It's Anne here up on the blog with a simple square, wreath card that I made using two new stencil sets recently released by Pinkfresh Studio, the Slimline Skinny Plaid and Indigo Vines. The Indigo Vines stencil set coordinates with the previously released Indigo Vines stamp, die and beautiful washi.

I started with the 2-layer skinny plaid stencil on some white cardstock with the inks Ballet Slipper and Peach Fuzz, because I was looking for a soft, muted coral reef shade. This stencil in particular, because of its long skinny lines, benefits from a light application of Pixie Spray to help the slender lines of the stencil stay in place as you blend your color over it. It also helps to drag your brush (or applicator) in the direction of the lines rather than across them. When I was done I set my new peachy plaid image aside and went to work on the wreath.

I again started with Ballet slipper and Peach Fuzz over the leaves. Then before I removed the stencil I also used Coral Reef and a very little bit of Passion Fruit at the base of the leaves. I regretted the red of Passion Fruit pretty quickly, I didn't like what it did to the Autumn-y wreath. (But I fix that later!) I used Coral Reef for the detail layer of the 4-stencil set and Summer Shower and Seaside blues for the tiny blooms.

When I was done with all of the stenciling I decided to stamp over it with Doe brown to softly define the lines of the image. I liked the addition of brown so much that after I die cut the wreath out I decided to go over the area's that I thought were too red with a dark brown pencil. This gave my image a more russet color palette, and I loved it! I did a little fussy cutting to separate the wreath in half and adhered it, with foam tape, to the 3 3/4 X 3 3/4 inches square stenciled plaid piece.

I used the Garden Wreath die set to cut out of blue paper a few tiny flowers and glued them to the wreath. That sweet bow was made using the Artistic Bows die set and brown cardstock with some Gathered Twigs inking to add dimension. Sometimes I like for the sentiment to remain slightly ambiguous, such as with "sending a great big hug" (Happy Blooms Floral stamp set), I can further define the type of card: Birthday, Anniversary, Just a Hello... on the interior when the occasion arises. I used the Fancy Label Frames to die cut out the sentiment.

I scattered some iridescent Peach Fuzz jewels on the plaid background, and some blue crystals in the flowers and was done. The final dimensions of the card are 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 inches.

I hope that you feel inspired to make something new today, thank you so much for coming by!
