Modern Shaker Card Featuring Rainbow Ink Blending | Kathleen Schmelz

Hi Pinkfresh Studio friends, and happy holidays! It’s Kathleen here. Even though this time of year is full of festive cheer, I’m popping in today with something a little different: a non-holiday card. After a busy season of Christmas crafting, it feels refreshing to create something you can use year-round.

With this card, I wanted to show that sometimes it doesn’t take much to create a true showstopper, and that coverplate dies can absolutely be the star of the show. This celebration-themed design is incredibly versatile and would be perfect for birthdays, weddings, graduations, new babies, or even sending a few Happy New Year wishes.

How to make this card:

1. Rainbow Card Base & Panel:
   1. Cut a top-folding A2 card base & (1) A2 panel from white cardstock.
   2. Using a 1" blending brush, ink blend both from top to bottom: Seaside, Meadow, Marigold, Apricot, and Raspberry Bliss.
      
2. Octagon Shaker:
   
   1. Die cut the Octagon Grid coverplate die (5) times from white cardstock & once from the rainbow ink-blended panel. You can discard the inside pieces or keep them for a future project.
   2. Adhere all the white die cuts together.
   3. Cover the openings of the stacked up die cuts with (12) acetate pieces.
   4. Adhere the rainbow die cut on top. Turn over & fill all the openings with chunky glitter or small sequins.
   5. Add liquid adhesive to the back of the die cut & adhere the card base onto it.
3. Sentiment:
   1. Die cut the outside "Celebrate" die from the Basic Sentiments die from a piece of white cardstock. Ink blend with Meadow & Marigold.
   2. Die cut the inside "Celebrate" die from a piece of holographic mirror cardstock or Silver Glitter Cardstock & adhere on top of the other die cut.
   3. Adhere the assembled sentiment to the card front using foam adhesive. Match up the placement with the ink blending on the shaker element.
4. Embellishments: Add some Clear Drops in Iridescent.
