Monthly Challenge Inspiration: Pattern Play | Kathleen Schmelz

Hello and happy Friday, everyone!  It's Kathleen back here with you again and today I thought I would share some inspiration for our current monthly challenge: Pattern Play.

Every month we host a challenge (open to cardmakers and scrapbookers alike) where we provide a theme and a color scheme to inspire you to use your Pinkfresh Studio products. Our design team always provides wonderful inspiration for the challenge, and, the best thing: at the end of the challenge we randomly pick a winner for a $50 gift card AND we share our Top 3 entries!

You can use the theme and/or color scheme for your projects, OR you can enter any new project that features mainly Pinkfresh Studio product. So really, anything goes!

For my card in a recent YouTube Live, I decided to use this challenge as inspiration, and I used both the theme, Pattern Play, and the color scheme that we provide for the challenge. (If you missed it, you can watch the replay HERE)

And here's how you can make this card:

1. Create an A2 card base (side or top-folding) from white cardstock.
2. Cut an A2 panel from white cardstock and hot foil the Cheerful Blooms press plate in Brass foil onto it.
3. Use the coordinating stencils to ink blend the images:
   1. Stencil 1: Meadow
   2. Stencil 2: Coral Reef, Begonia
   3. Stencil 3: Marigold, Lavender
   4. Stencil 4: Lemon Whip, Lavender (light hand)
   5. Stencil 5: Marigold, Candy Violet, Begonia
4. Die cut using the coordinating die.
5. Use Stencil 5 and ink blend Candy Violet directly onto the card base.
6. Die cut (4) hexagons from white cardstock using the Mark the Moment die.
7. Dry emboss the die-cut hexagons with the Cheerful Blooms press plate.
8. Lightly ink blend the edges of the hexagons with the residue from your purple, yellow, and red/pink blending brushes.
9. Adhere the hexagons with foam adhesive to the card base.
10. Arrange the die-cut flowers on top and around the hexagons, tucking some behind to add more dimension and layers.
11. Heat emboss the Basic Banners: Everyday stamp in white on white cardstock and die cut with the coordinating die.
12. Choose a sentiment and ink blended Marigold ink on top. Adhere the banner with foam adhesive to the card base.
13. Add finishing touches with Clear Drops, Jewels, or Glitter Drops. I used Clear Drops in Blush.
