Bold Techniques with Soft Colors | Jody Morrow

Using bold techniques with soft colors is a way to ensure your design POPS, even when the colors don't. Today, I show you how to use multi-color ink blending and masking, deeply dry embossing with a press plate, and hot foiling to create a big impact.

How to recreate this card:

1. Hot foil the images, as well as the sentiment, in matte silver. Add color using the coordinating stencils: 
   • Stencil 1: Sheer Freesia
   • Stencil 2: Sage
   • Stencil 3: Sage, Eucalyptus
   • Stencil 4: Ocean Breeze, Turquoise
   • Stencil 5: Eucalyptus, Tidal Pond
2. Die cut all of the images and sentiments.
3. Cut and fold an A2 landscape top-folding card base from white cardstock
4. Die cut a white panel with the second-largest die in the Essentials: Nested Rectangles Postage Edge.
5. Dry emboss the Leafy Lattice press plate on an A2 panel using a rubber embossing mat with the Platinum 6; adhere to card base.
6. Mask off the edge of postage die cut with mint tape and ink blend using sheer freesia, ocean breeze, and sage. Remove tape.
7. Arrange images on panel with varying thicknesses of foam tape.
8. Adhere the sentiment to the panel with liquid glue. 
9. Adhere the panel to the card base using foam tape.
