Mini slimline friendship cards | Erica A-B

Hi guys!

It's Erica back on the Pinkfresh blog today, with a couple of fun and flirty mini slimline cards using the new Essentials: Mini Slimline Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die, and some previously released goodies.

The mini slimline size is so fun to work with! It's like a mini party on a card, and this Essentials: Mini Slimline Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die is the perfect accent to finish your party with. I have used both pieces for my two cards, but you can separate them and with one diecut you can finish off two cards. Which is another win, if you ask me.

I have this gorgeous linen textured card stock in my stash, and I have cut one frame out of white and one out of black, for these cards. I also cut out an extra two or three pieces to layer these up and create some gorgeous dimension.

On the back of the black frame I have glued down scrap pieces of black card stock to cover up the white card stock showing through the stitched details. I could have cut out a whole new piece but I decided to use up some scraps instead.

With my frames created, it was time to work on the other elements of the card and I have used the lovely Folk Garden 2 set. The layering stencils, the hot foil plate and the coordinating diecut, the only thing I didn't end up using is the Folk Garden 2 stamp itself.

First off, I hot foiled two Folk Garden 2 pieces, one with gold foil and one with rainbow foil. The rainbow foiled one I used the diecut on right away, they are gorgeous as they are. Nothing extra needed for these.

On the gold foiled ones I used the layering stencils to add some soft colours. I have ink blended some Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Lemon Whip, Sunshine, Coral Reef, Peach Fuzz and Apricot on them, and then with that done, I used the coordinating diecut to cut them out.

With all these pieces done, it was just a matter of puzzling all of these together. When I was happy with the layout, I used Press'n'Seal to pick the pieces up and add liquid adhesive to the back. With the liquid adhesive you will have a few extra seconds to get the whole shebang right where you want it on your card base, which is one of the main reasons I use it primarily when adding details to my cards. I have a long history of making wonky cards, so this method of adding my pieces to the card helps me a lot.

The final touch was a sentiment for them both. For one card I have used the Brushed Sentiment hot foil plates, which are foiled in Rose Gold, and then cut out with the coordinating diecut. This one simply says 'Hello'.

The second card has a sentiment stamped up on a slim banner. This isn't actually a banner die, it's the Slimline Stripes diecut. It works so fab for sentiments strips, as you get three different sized stripe dies in the set. The sentiment itself is from the Charming Floral Border stamp set, and is stamped with Black Hybrid ink.

I nearly went to add some Jewels too, but lo and behold, I managed to rein in my bling loving side!

With that I am all done for today, but I hope you found some inspiration here with me and will try this great value Essentials addition for yourself. Thank you for stopping by and see you soon again,

Lots of love and happy crafting from Erica
