In the Meadow Happy Birthday || Angela Simpson
Hi friends, and Happy New Year! I hope your 2022 is off to a wonderful start so far. Over the holidays I was working on replenishing my stash of birthday cards, which is the type I find myself needing most often. The project I have for you today is one of those creations, and it features the In the Meadow Washi Tape from the December 2021 Pinkfresh release.
Upon starting, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted this card to look like, but I knew there needed to be some washi flowers involved. I rolled out a few pieces of the In the Meadow washi tape on 100lb cardstock and cut them out with the coordinating die, then started playing with potential arrangements.
I decided that the flowers would be the main pops of color on the card, but needed to create a textured background to layer them on top of. For this, I reached for the Curvy Leaves die set, cutting several from white cardstock, and adhering them to a white background panel. I also used one of the plain solid rectangle dies from the Folk Edge Rectangles die set to cut a simple white frame, which I layered on top with foam tape.
Back to the focal point of the card, I used one of the frame dies from the Mini Slimline Essentials Bundle to create a bordered white circle, on top of which, I layered a gold 'happy birthday' made with the Perfect Sentiments hot foil plate. My cardstock choice for this foiling was Plum from Hero Arts, a color that tied in nicely with the deep pinks and purples on the washi.
After playing around with the arrangement of the sentiment and flowers for a while, I settled on their position and mounted them in the top right third of my card, then attached the whole thing to an A2 card base.
To finish, I added a few metallic gold pearls which coordinate really nicely with the gold foil sentiment. Pinkfresh's washi tape designs are all so pretty, and I love how they allow you to make cards quite quickly with beautiful florals that look like they took much longer to create. If you haven't explored these tapes yet, I highly recommend checking them out!
Thank you so much for stopping by and spending time with me today. Wishing you a happy, healthy and crafty 2022!
