Fuchsias Washi Happy Birthday Card | Angela Simpson

Fuchsias Washi Happy Birthday Card | Angela Simpson

Hey there, Pinkfresh friends! It's Angela here, and today I've got a project to share that features the new Fuschias Washi suite from the latest March release. This is one of five floral product suites that came out last month, and it's certainly one of my favorites. As always, the layering stencils make coloring a breeze, and with lots of images in the set, there are heaps of ways to arrange them on a card.

This project began the way most of mine do, which was with ink color selection. I went with Pinkfresh inks in Candy Violet and Regal Kiss (purples), as well as Marigold and Olive - a little twist from what you'd see on typical fuchsias in nature. After stamping the florals lightly in Warm Buff ink (which I chose because it's very subtle and doesn't show after ink is blended on top), I worked through the layering stencils, going in with a heavier hand for the detail on the fuchsias and then returning to the first stencil to soften the contrast a bit.

Once the ink blending was completely dry, I returned the panel of stenciled images to my MISTI where the stamp was still in the same place, and stamped again in clear embossing ink. I knew I wanted the foiled elements to be gold, so I went with a gold embossing powder here and heat set it before cutting out all the images with the coordinating die.

Foiling was next, both for the sentiment and the diamond frame. I'm very much smitten with the new Pinkfresh Nested Diamond Hot Foil Frames (also available as hexagons and circles) and I think you will be too! I chose the second largest here and ran it through my foiling machine with my favorite matte gold foil, then used the coordinating die to cut it out. I did the same with my sentiment, then started to arrange the pieces from the Fuchsias suite underneath.

The background needed a little something to make it more interesting, so I used the previously-released Daisy Chain Cover Plate Die and a white A2 cardstock panel to achieve this. I love the texture this added - the perfect amount to take things up a notch, but not too much so as to distract from the focal point. I assembled all the layers, using foam tape to pop the diamond and flowers forward, then finished the card with my foiled 'happy birthday' sentiment. Of course, you could turn this into a card for whatever occasion you like - there are heaps of sentiments to choose from in the Fancy Script Words hot foil plate set - but I find myself needing birthday cards all the time so that's what I make the most!
