Faux Watercolor Background Using Washi Tape | TaeEun Yoo

Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! It’s TaeEun here today, sharing a thank you card featuring some lovely items from the October “Flourish & Glow” Release. This project is also inspired by the November Challenge: PETALS & THANKS. The challenge color palette harmonizes beautifully with the tones from the Cozy Blooms Washi Tape. So  I thought it would be fun to create the background using the washi tape. Follow along to see how this design came together!

1. Adhere two sets of the floral images from the Cozy Blooms washi tape onto thin printer paper and cut them out using the coordinating die.
2. Arrange and glue the small floral images on a A2 sized white panel to create a full floral background.
3. Cut the background panel with the Octagon Grid die for an interesting layered texture.
4. Blend Storm ink onto a piece of white cardstock, keeping the center light and the top and bottom edges deeper in tone
5. Cut the word THANKS from the ink blended panel using the Bloom of Thanks die.
6. Cut four additional THANKS to layer them to add dimension.
7. Cut the small white florals using the Bloom of Thanks die.

- Assemble the card

1. Add foam tape to the back of the Octagon Grid and the small octagons, then adhere them to a white cardbase to raise these parts of the background.
2. Glue the thin octagon frames and the rhomboid shapes directly to the cardbase.
3. Add the layered THANKS sentiment  to the card and decorate the letters with the white die-cut florals.
4. Finish with a few Ice Clear Drops for a delicate sparkle.

Tip: By adhering the washi tape onto thin printer paper, die-cutting the images, and arranging them on your panel as desired, you can create a beautiful background that looks just like a watercolored panel.
