Hi Pinkfresh Studio friends, and Happy New Year! It’s Kathleen here, and I’m so excited to kick off the new year by sharing the very first card project on the blog today.
I don’t know about you, but now that the Christmas card season has wrapped up, the cards I reach for most are birthday and celebration-themed. So for today’s post, I’m sharing an idea for a clean and elegant shaker card that’s perfect for any special occasion.

How to make this card:
-
Card Base & Panel:
- Cut a top-folding A2 card base & (1) A2 panel from cream cardstock (or use white cardstock and ink blend very lightly with Lemon Whip or Peach Fuzz for a similar effect).
- Trim off about 1/8" from the top & bottom of the A2 panel, then die cut a window using one of the Elongated Ovals dies.
- Cut a top-folding A2 card base & (1) A2 panel from cream cardstock (or use white cardstock and ink blend very lightly with Lemon Whip or Peach Fuzz for a similar effect).
-
Shaker:
- Die cut the Trellis coverplate die from a piece of white cardstock (approx. 4" x 5") & adhere to the back of the die-cut panel (step 1.2).
- Cut a piece of acetate (approx. 4" x 5") & adhere it to the back, sandwiching the Trellis die cut between the acetate and the window panel.
- Add thick foam adhesive around the back of the window. (Tip: treat the sides of the foam adhesive with an anti-static powder tool to avoid the sequins from sticking to it)
- Place sequins, small glitter drops/pearls/jewels or large loose glitter in the center of the card base, then adhere the assembled window panel on top, centering it on the card front.
-
Bloomscape Florals:
- Hot foil the Bloomscape press plate with gold foil on a white A2 panel.
- Ink blend the florals with ink colors of your choice (I used Marigold, Peach Fuzz, Sunkissed, Coral Reef, and Tidal Pond).
- Die cut using the coordinating die & tuck some of the florals in at the top and bottom of the shaker window. (Save the leftover pieces for future projects)
-
Sentiment:
- Stamp a sentiment of your choice from the On My Mind stamp set with embossing ink & heat emboss in gold.
- Die cut & stack with (2) blank pieces. Adhere centered on the shaker window.
- Embellishments: Add some Jewels in Peach Fuzz.

You can easily adapt this card to fit the occasion and/or your recipient by changing up the color scheme, sentiment, and the florals.
