Cherry Blossom Wreath | Anne Fiene

Cherry Blossom Wreath | Anne Fiene

15 Mar 2024 4 Comments

Hi guys! I'm on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with a sweet, bloom-filled wreath! I used the new Cherry Blossoms die set to make a couple of branches of pink and red blossoms, then cut them apart to arrange them in a wreath. I also used a new press plate, Dotted Petals, for a charming background.

I started by die-cutting two complete sets of the blossoms and branches from heavyweight white cardstock. I left them in the panel and used some low-tack tape on the back to ensure they stayed there. Then I pulled out some pretty Pinkfresh Studio ink colors and spent time coloring in the small flowers. Yay! This is probably my favorite part. A Cherry Blossoms stencil set is also available if you're more comfortable using it.

I used these colors: Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum, Cherry Blossom, Peony, and Berrylicious. In both cases, I used the darkest shade on the edges of the petals with a small blending brush after I took it out of the cardstock panel. I used Sage and Eucalyptus on the leaves and a dark red pencil to darken the tiny tips of the flower's stamen.

I used the branch die with dark red and light pink cardstock twice. I used glue to double the branches to strengthen them. Then, I put all those pieces aside to make the backing panel.

I used the new Dotted Petals press plate to hot-foil with a pastel orange foil on a panel of white cardstock. I also used Coral Reef to blend a little color onto the panel.

After the hot-foiled panel was adhered to my cardbase, I started cutting branches and arranging the blossoms. When they were where I wanted them, I used foam tape under the blossoms (the widest part of the die-cut) to adhere them in place. I also inserted some extra branches here and there and curled them slightly to add variation and interest. To add some whimsy, I decided to thread some pink/red twine through the wreath.

I used the Wonderful Sentiments hot foil plate with more peach-colored foil and added Clear Drops: Ice for a clear sparkle without added color. Then I was done!

I hope that some of these design choices have inspired you to make something new today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
