Mixed Media Layouts with Joyful Day | Missy Whidden
I love how these frames look layered on top of each other. I embellished around my photos using stickers, puffy stickers and a cute fabric banner. I also added a few more pops of color with some tangled thread.
Before I began embellishing, I coated my background cardstock with white gesso. I even went over some of the frames and a little bit at the top on the blue paper. I used the Liquid Watercolors to create a pretty watercolor effect down on the bottom half of the page. I used lots of blues and pinks, and I also added some gold ink splatters. I used some of the puffy word stickers and alphas for my title. Here you can also see where I added more stickers and mixed embellishments.
Do you ever add mixed media to your layouts? I really love creating my own backgrounds, and the Liquid Watercolors are so fun to play with.
I created a small cluster beneath the title using another fussy cut frame, and a few bows.
I used a few of the chipboard frames as dimensional layers behind my photos. I finished off the embellishing with more stickers, die cuts, puffy stickers and enamel dots...all from the Joyful Day collection.
One last close-up of the cute fabric banner!
For my second layout, I decided to go floral. I used a few of the patterned papers to back the flowers of this pretty cut file. Again, I used mixed media on a white cardstock background. I began with gesso and then used the Liquid Watercolors to create a big wash of light blue. I splattered in a few other colors, but I wanted to mainly have a lot of blue behind the flowers.
I love backing cut files! It does take a bit of time, but it's always worth the awesome results. I used a few circle punches with the patterned papers to create centers for the flowers. I roughed up the edges using an edge distresser and then added adhesive foam behind the cut file and the circles.
Again, I mixed and matched my title using more of the puffy word stickers and puffy alphas. I also added in a cute floral puffy sticker and leaf stem.
I love overlapping pieces on top of my photo when the photo allows, and this photo was perfect to tuck under right here. I also overlapped the title a bit on to of the photo.
I added more florals to the left of the photo with a chipboard sticker, a few die cuts and a puffy sticker. I wanted all the main colors of the layout to be in that cluster.
Here's one more look at all the pretty flowers & papers!
I hope these pages inspire you in some way. This collection is just darling, and I had a blast creating with it. Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!
