LOVE color | Else Huinink

Hi everyone,

thank you so much for being here. First of all, happy Valentine's day! I don't know wheter or not you are celebrating this day; I wish you a happy day full of love.

Today I wanted to share two layouts I created with the new collections by Pinkfresh: My favorite story & Noteworthy. These collections are right up my alley with fun bits and pieces, all the flowers, beautiful papers and lots of different colors.

Love you more - My favorite story

You might have seen this layout in the monthly challenge earlier this month. I created this bold, colorful layout with the 'Looking for sunshine' paper. I used the cut-off from this paper to back the heart cutfile in the middle. This way the cutfile matches the background perfectly. This cutfile will be available soon in the Pinkfresh Studio Fan Facebook group, so check this group out if you like it.

To be honest, I struggled with this cutfile after I finished backing it. I didn't know how to fit it on the layout and let it blend with all the other bits and pieces. I decided to use the white flower diecuts from the floral ephemera pack, with only the outlines. These match perfectly with the white cardstock from the cutfile and make it feel less like a stand-alone feature.

To finish this layout I picked the fitting title 'Love you more' from the puffy phrase stickers, all sorts of small embellishments from the chipboard flair, enamel dots and puffy stickers. I placed these small items on the background with the same color. This adds interest, but not the chaos of too much color everywhere.

Dress shopping - Noteworthy

The background paper I chose for this layout is called 'Enchanted blooms' and it was love at first sight. I love all the flowers and brightness, while it is still colorful. Whenever I fall for a patterned paper like this, I tend to use it as my background, even if it's a busy pattern like this one.

The picture is of my mother and I while we waited for my sister to put on a weddingdress. I can't scrap those pictures yet, so this will have to do until my sister is married ;-) I like how the picture still stands out, just because the picture is so, so pink.

I backed the picture with a yellow plaid pattern, some parts of the paper 'Lovely moments' and the grid patterned packaging from one of the embellisment packs. I tore the backgroundpaper a little bit and rolled the edges, and placed that same bright yellow pattern from the paper 'Happy thoughts' behind it.

With all the patterns going on, it was a little bit busy. So I love to use glassine bags or vellum on my layouts, to tone down the background a little bit.

I used a few puffy stickers, ephemera pieces and the mini puffy alpha stickers in a rainbow order. For the word 'dress' in the title I used the white puffy alpha stickers from the Just a little lovely collection.

I hope that I could inspire you today and give you some tips on how to make colorful layouts that still let you focus on the most important thing; your stories and pictures!
