A Fun 3D Background with Fresh Start

Hello Pinkfresh friends! I'm so happy to be back today with a new 12 x 12 layout using the colorful and cheerful Fresh Start collection. For this project, I wanted to create a playful and dimensional background using a simple paper-folding technique . I choose three main colors from the collection , pink, blue and green, and I used the 6 x 8 paper pad to create the dimensional shapes that form the base off the layout.

Step by Step

1. Create the basic shapes. To create the main elements of the background, cut nine strips of white cardstock, each measuring 8 x 1/4 inches. On each of the nine strips mark and fold at 2, 4 and 6 inches. Once the folds are made, add a small amount of adhesive to the opposite ends of the strip and join together . Repeat the process with all nine strips. I love how a simple technique transforms these little strips of paper into dimensional shapes.

2. Next, place a piece of patterned paper behind the shapes. I arranged the shapes close together on a white cardstock . This creates a beautiful contrast and makes all the colors really pop.

3. Once the background was in place, I added my photo in the center and started building my embellishments clusters around it.. I used the Fresh Start alphabet puffy to create the words dancing and love, and then added the die cut with the main title.

4. Finally, I added lots of my favorite embellishments, flowers, butterflies , hearts and small decorative pieces.

I really love how the combination of the colorful patterned papers and dimensional shapes creates such a fun and playful background, while the white cardstock keeps the overall design feeling light and fresh .
