Creating a Whimsical Tree Branch Layout | Eva Pizarro

Hello everyone! Eva here on the blog today, sharing a festive and dimensional Christmas layout featuring the beautiful Very Merry Christmas collection.

This line is absolutely stunning — I love how it mixes modern design elements with classic Christmas icons. One of my favorite papers is the “Stories of the Season” patterned paper, filled with pine branches and ornaments. It immediately inspired me to create a tree branch layout that feels both whimsical and elegant.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Fussy cut several pine branches and Christmas ornaments from the “Stories of the Season” 12x12 patterned paper. These will be the main focus of your layout
2. Cut a frame from white cardstock, trimming the edges in soft, wavy lines to add gentle movement and flow. 
3. Adhere the frame to your layout base, then add a few extra wavy strips to the sides using patterned papers from the 6x8 pad. I chose light blue and lilac tones for a soft, wintry feel.
4. Layer and glue the fussy-cut branches and ornaments across your page, forming a dimensional “branch tree” design.
5. Use small pieces of red thread to “hang” some ephemera ornaments from the branches. This adds texture and a playful touch of movement.
6. Place your photos inside a few of the ornament shapes, and use a chipboard piece as your title 
7. Decorate with a few ephemera accents and some chipboard stars.
8. Complete your layout by adding a few wooden stars for texture and warmth.

Tip: Gently curl the edges of your paper pieces with your fingers to add even more depth and dimension.
