Black & White with Pops of Color Layout Inspiration | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey friends, it's Kathleen here back with you today and before my Design Team colleagues will share all of their gorgeous projects made with the new Indigo Hills 2 collection, I have two more layouts for you for which I used the summery Simple & Sweet collection.

Maybe you still have lots of photos from this past Summer unscrapped (like me), so I hope that today's projects can inspire you to put them on a layout! ;)

For my first layout I used very little patterned paper (two strips of the Lemon Lush paper at the top and bottom of my page and a piece of the Good Company paper to mat my photo) because I had planned on using the gorgeous new Pinkfresh Studio watercolors to "back" the flowers that I had cut out with my Silhouette Portrait (I used the cutfile #274524 from the Silhouette store) and wanted these to be the focal element on my layout.

Before I adhered the cutfile to my page and added the watercolors (I used Bubble Gum and Sunshine), I used a pencil to mark where the flowers would be so that the pink would be roughly behind one and the yellow behind the other flower.

For my title I used a mix of the white, black and mint mini puffy alphabet stickers from Simple & Sweet, since it was too long to spell it with only one or two of them and I actually like that it repeats the black and white from the papers and embellishments and the mint from the paper behind my photo and the enamel dots.

I also used some of the chipboard stickers around my page to add some more details, as well as the golden puffy accent stickers because, well, a little bit of gold never hurts, right? ;)

I'm quite happy with how this page turned out, especially since I'm not really a watercolor pro or expert, but I just wanted to use them because they are so bright and vibrant and just perfect for a summer photo! :)

For my second layout I actually used the Lemon Lush paper again (I think the black and white pattern on the backside is one of my favorites in the whole collection) to add a border around my page and help make all the other colors really pop.

This time I stuck to yellow, orange/red and a tiny bit of pink because these colors complemented my photo perfectly. I used the Simple & Sweet collection, but I also  mixed in a few things from The Mix No. 2 (like the peach alpha stickers, a few of the puffy heart stickers and also one of the stitched hearts).

I just love when I am able to mix and match different collections and The Mix No 2 works perfectly with almost any collection because you can really pick and choose the colors you need from it.

For the "LOVE" part of my title I used a cutfile (ID #137036) and a few of the Simple & Sweet papers to back the individual letters. I tried to make use of the Splendid paper as much as I could because you can get so many different patterns from it without having to cut into another full 12"x12" sheet (and I didn't have the 6"x6" paper pack on hand).

Finally, I added some golden mist splatters and a little bit of machine stitching in gold around my page and wrote about how much I love my little girl on the sticker in the lower right corner. And that's it ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed seeing these layouts and they inspire you to get scrapping!

xo, Kathleen
