A twist on a grid style layout | Lauren Hender
Hello Everyone, Welcome back to the Pink Fresh Studio blog.
While the virus I'm sure is in the forefront of our minds I hope that you are all taking some time to do some things that you enjoy. I think this is particularly important when feeling stressed or anxious. For me scrapbooking relieves my worries and gives my mind a break from over thinking.
Take some time to think about what things in your life give you enjoyment and be proactive in doing some or better yet all of them.
Today I am sharing with you two layouts, one layout is using the new 'Super Cool' collection and the other is using the 'Noteworthy' collection. Once I completed them I soon realised that in their own way they are both grid style layouts, something I don't ever do but now think will do more often as I love how they turned out.
This layout was lots of fun to put together and really quick and easy. I started out by matting my 3x4 inch portrait photo with white cardstock and then using the two of the Super Cool Pocket Tags off set them to give the effect of another border which helps to highlight the photo.
I then cut three strips of the patterned paper 'full of adventures' making sure that two of the strips were featuring the flags and then the third strip was the opposite side of the patterned paper, which I cut into two thin strips and inserted on the inside of the two main strips. Then using my sewing machine I stitched along the strip to add a little detail.
Then using foam tape I adhered the fun acetate speech bubbles. I was really mindful to make sure they were nice and straight and that my foam tape covered the majority of the bubble so that you couldn't see through it.
I then added the sweet enamel dots and the layout was done. I love it when a layout comes together quickly!
My second layout was equally as fun. Once again I really tapped into the patterned paper to form the layout.
This layout took a little longer to put together as I just couldn't help but use so many of the beautiful Noteworthy elements. I began with the cut apart cardstock called 'Be Curious'. This stunning paper features twelve 3x4 inch portrait cards to select from. I selected my favourites and adhered them evenly to the page.
I then added my photo and to highlight it I used some of the yummy puffy frames. I snipped the yellow frame into pieces and added it to different parts of the layout trying to bring all the different colours together and making sure the same colour wasn't clustered all in the one section.
Then using the journaling bits I added a large tag. I just love that perfect gold eyelet. This tag became my title card and I mounted it using some foam tape.
I then couldn't resist but add some of the super sweet puffy stickers and some of the classic cardstock stickers. To let you in on a little secret I usually hide away my cardstock stickers as they are perfect for my project life album.
To finish off I added some stitching in random places around the layout to add some detail. I hope my layouts have inspired you to be creative during this worrying time. I hope that you are able to take some time for you to relax and I pray that all your friends and family are safe.
Happy scrapping
Lauren xx
