You're the Best Floral Card | Angela Simpson

Hey there Pinkfresh friends! It's Angela here, and today I've got a card project to share that features the You're the Best product suite, as well as the Overlapping Geo Leaf Hot Foil Plate. You may recall that I very recently posted another card using these same products, but I wanted to show you how small changes give the finished result a very different look. As you'll soon see, the Overlapping Geo Leaf Hot Foil Plate gets a much more subtle treatment here, and the color really pops on the florals to make them the focus.

To get started, I stamped two sets of the florals from the You're the Best stamp set on white cardstock, then used the coordinating layering stencils and Pinkfresh inks in Clementine, Olive, Candy Violet and Candy Apple to color them in. As you can see, there's no red areas on these florals, but I applied just a little bit of Candy Apple over the Candy Violet areas to alter the color a little. (I use Candy Violet a LOT!)

Once the images were all colored in, I used the You're the Best die to cut them out. I made two sets so I had several to play with, and what wasn't used in this design has since been added to another card. If you're gonna get the ink blending brushes and stencils out, you might as well color up a few extras, don't you think?

Next up came the sentiment, and for this I chose the Phrase Builder Hello hot foil plate and die because the weight was just right to allow it to stand out in front of the florals. After running that through the die cutting machine, I also die cut a circle using the Fancy Circles die set, and a couple of small leaves with the Leafy Branch die.

As for the background of the card, I wanted a subtle textured effect so I reached for the Overlapping Geo Leaves hot foil plate and dry embossed it by running it through my die cutting machine with a piece of cardstock and rubber embossing pads. I love using my hot foil plates in this way because it really helps you get the most out of them.

With all of my elements complete, all that was left to do was arrange and adhere. I like to use liquid glue to secure my backgrounds to card bases because it allows for a few seconds to smoosh the pieces together, ensuring the edges line up just right. From there, I used temporary tape to hold the florals to the die cut circle, then applied foam tape behind and mounted the whole thing to the background. Finally, I adhered the sentiment with liquid glue and set the card aside to dry.

Thank you as always for stopping by to check out my project. I hope it's inspired you to make something beautiful today, and until next time, happy crafting! - Angela
