Happy Friday, Pinkfresh friends! Yasmin here sharing with you a fun celebration inspiration card made with a “Cake Shaped” look using Happy Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set and Happy Birthday Sentiments Die Set for the card sentiment. Also, You’re The Best Stamp, You’re The Best Die, and You’re The Best Stencil to create the floral look. And, Abstract Triangles Hot Foil Plate, Essentials: Slim Stripes Die Set, and Essentials: Lacey Edgers 1 Die Set for the decorative steps. Besides those sets, I used Metallic Pearls -Gold to add an extra touch of shine and PFS- Ink Pads to add pops of color to the flowers and leaves. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it.

Therefore, to create this fun cake-shaped card, first I went ahead to trim down one white card panel to H 5-1/2 x W 4.0. Second, I placed down the card panel with the longer side vertically, and then, I used a pencil and a ruler to add point marks on each side from bottom to top at 2-1/2 inches.

Third, after adding those point marks, I went ahead to place the ruler horizontally at that point, and then, I got traced 1/2 of an inch inwards on each side. Fourth, after adding those 1/2 inches on each side of the card panel, I went ahead to place the ruler vertically once again to add another 2-1/2 inches leaving that way the bottom and top at 2-1/2 inches each plus, 1/2 of an inch extra at the very top part to use it as a hinge.

That being said, after adding all point marks, I went ahead to use the ruler and the pencil to join them, once I had that done, I used a sharp pair of scissors to fussy cut out the 1/2 inch on each side of the top part of the card panel, and then I repeated the same steps to create the other card flap out of another white card panel.

So, after getting the fussy-cut step done for each card flap, I went ahead to fussy-cut out the extra 1/2 inch on the top part from one of them, and then I added a scoring line to the other one with the extra 1/2 inch. Once, I got the score line added to it, I proceeded to get it folded inwards, and then I placed the one with the fold aside.

Meanwhile, I proceeded to get the top flap of the card embellished, so to do that, I went ahead to use the Abstract Triangles Hot Foil Plate along with a large piece of white cardstock and the Glimmer Hot Foil System and also a large piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Gold. By the way, to get the complete hot foil stamping step, I also used my Platinum Six die-cut machine. Therefore, after getting the hot foil stamping process completed over the cardstock, I went ahead to use the paper trimmer to cut out two smaller panels from it, keeping in mind the pattern while getting them trim down for a continuous look.

To e exact, the bottom panel measured H 2-1/2 x W 4.0, and the top panel measured, W 3.0 x approximately 2-3/8 in height. Thus, after getting them trim down, I went ahead to get the backing of each of them glued down to the card flap. Then, to continue with the embellishments, I went ahead to use one of the dies included in Essentials: Lacey Edgers 1 Die Set to cut some decorative borders out from glittery white craft foam. Decorative borders which I got glued down to the card flap afterward in a way that you can see in the image above.

Followed by that, I also used the medium side die included in Essentials: Slim Stripes Die Set to cut out a gold strip from cardstock, and then I got glued down the gold strip to the center part of the card flap to define the two-tier cake on this cake-shaped card. So, after getting that done, I went ahead to add the floral effect to the cake.

Moving on, for the floral effect, I used You’re The Best Stamp, You’re The Best Die, and You’re The Best Stencil. Also, I used the following hue combination: Coral Reef Ink, Clementine Ink, Sweet Mustard Ink, Marigold Ink, Mint Ink, Evergreen Ink, and Aquamarine Ink to add pops of color to the flowers and leaves. As for the stamping, I used embossing ink and then gold embossing powder to get the heat embossing done over the stamping. Lastly, because I wanted this to be a celebration card, I went ahead to create a cake topper so to do that, I used one of the sentiments included in the Happy Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set to get it stamped and heat embossed over a piece of white cardstock and to get it die-cut with its coordinating die which is included in Happy Birthday Sentiments Die Set.

Next, to create the cake topper, I went ahead to use the smaller die included in the Essentials: Slim Stripes Die Set to cut out a strip from gold cardstock, and then, I got the card sentiment glued down over it just like you can see in the previous image. That said, after getting the cake topper completed, I went ahead to get both card flaps glued down together but I left a tiny piece in the center of it without any glue to fit the cake topper in. However, by leaving that tiny space without any glue, the cake topper can easily be removed and placed back into place. This removable cake topper step is crucial if you want your card to fit inside an A2-size envelope.

Nevertheless, after getting all the embellishments glued down and the cake-shaped card base put together along with its cake topper, I went ahead to add an extra touch of shine by also getting glue down some of the Metallic Pearls -Gold just like you can see them in the image above.
