Whimsical Blooms Washi Card | Angela Simpson

Whimsical Blooms Washi Card | Angela Simpson

Hi friends! It's Angela here, and today I've got a clean and simple card to share with you featuring one of the new washi tape designs from the latest Pinkfresh release. There were 5 rolls added to the lineup, and if you asked me to pick a favorite, I don't think I could! But for this card, you're looking at the Whimsical Blooms washi, and if you attended the Create & Connect Virtual Event earlier this year, you may recognize these beautiful florals!

To get started I rolled out some washi tape on a half sheet of vellum (sliced lengthwise, which fits the width of the roll comfortably). Next, I used the coordinating Whimsical Blooms die to cut out all the images at once, and began playing with their arrangement over a plain white A2 card base. I find this helpful when planning my card designs because it helps me get a sense of how many I'm going to be able to fit, and how big my sentiment needs to be in order to stand out.

Since I wanted to let the florals shine, I went with a white-on-white textured background. The Geo Tiles die was perfect for the job, but you could achieve a similar and equally beautiful result with any of Pinkfresh's cover plate dies. A die cut using this plate takes a few extra minutes to adhere to a card base because she's an intricate one, but it's worth it if you ask me!

Over top, I layered a white border made with the Blanket Stitched Rectangles die set. Before adhering however, I played with the arrangement of the Whimsical Blooms in the top left and bottom right corners until I had the pieces where I liked them. A little temporary tape held them in place on the frame while I added foam adhesive and clear gel tape all over the back of the frame and images. From there, I carefully pressed the layer over the A2 card base. The frame nicely covered the edges of the Geo Tiles die cut, and also hid the floral stems that I tucked behind.

To finish things off, I added a simple 'hello' from the Fancy Script Words hot foil set, then added a few Blush Glitter Drops. I love how these look, both on top of washi flowers and as little embellishments in the background. On that note, if you haven't tried the new glitter drops, I highly recommend them. With flat backs and not too much height, they also work great as shaker card filler and come in SO many beautiful colors!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by to check out this project today. If you're in the mood to create with washi tapes, be sure to have a look at all the designs here. Once you start, I think you'll be hooked. (Ask me how I know!) Until next time, happy crafting! - Angela
