Watercolored Floral Notes | Jenny Colacicco

Hello Everyone!

For today's post I've returned to the slimline release from October that featured those gorgeous bold floral images including the feature of my card today - Floral Notes.  While they come with coordinating stencils for ink-blending, I decided to play with my Liquid Watercolors instead.

I first stamped out the main flowers image from Floral Notes using Detail Black ink (which once heat set, is great for watercoloring).  I used hot press watercolor cardstock (by Arches) which gives a better impression when stamping.  I watercolored the main flowers by doing wet on wet - adding a layer of clean clear water and then dropping in the color. I started with Sapphire, and then dropped in some Lavender letting the color blend together naturally.

When dry, I went back in and added a few more layers with just the Sapphire and just the Lavender with a touch of Licorice to darken it.  For the flower centres I used Espresso, doubling the layers for contrast, and finally I did the same for the leaves using Aquamarine. I. added a few splatters, and then when dry, I die cut out the image with the Floral Notes coordinating die and set aside.

For the background, I used a panel of pale kraft cardstock, trimmed to just larger than the slimline stencils. I mixed some white embossing paste with the Lavender and Sapphire watercolors and applied it. over the Slimline Diamond Motif stencil.

While it dried, I die cut the Essentials: Ornate Oval Frame and heat embossed it with Gold embossing glitter.

To pul the card together, I layered the Floral Notes in the frame using foam tape and trimming the frame to enable it to lay flat against the embossed background.

The sentiment is stamped in Detail Black on the kraft cardstock, and is from My Favorite Things to Say.  I die cut the 'Congrats' from the Essentials: Classic Words dies from vellum and black cardstock and layered them together, then mounted both on foam squares on the flowers and frame.  A few pale lavender and blue Essentials: Crystals finished my card!

Jenny
