Creating Unique Backgrounds with Essential Dies | Kathleen Schmelz

Happy Friday, Pinkfresh Studio fans! It's Kathleen back on the blog, and I'm excited I get to share a project with products from the brand-new "Sunshine & Smiles" release!Ā

By the way, if you missed the reveal, make sure to check out the blog post & hop along the blog hop for tons of inspiration and giveaways HERE!

One of the new products in the release is the Dotted Postage Square die set and I absolutely love it! Of course you can use it to cut a panel for your card, but I wanted to try something different.Ā

*Disclaimer: All products used are linked below as clickable images. If a product isn’t listed, it’s been discontinued.

So, let's see how you can recreate this card:

  1. Cut an A2 card base from white cardstock (side-folding or top-folding).
  2. Die cut the second-smallest Dotted Postage Square die (8x) from white cardstock.
  3. Lightly mark the center of the card base with a pencil. Using foam adhesive for added dimension, adhere the first four die cuts so that they meet at the marked center point.
  4. Fill the rest of the card base with the remaining die cuts. Trim any excess pieces & reuse them to cover any empty areas.
  5. Ā Ink blend the flowers using the Petal Perfection layering stencils:
    1. Stencil 1: Lemon Whip + Sweet Mustard (large flower), Soft Lilac (medium flower), Apricot (small flower)
    2. Stencil 2: Sunshine + Marigold (large flower), Candy Violet + Regal Kiss (medium flower), Sunkissed (small flower)
    3. Stencil 3: Grassy Knoll + Olive
    4. Stencil 4: Grassy Knoll + Olive
  6. Die cut using the coordinating die. Use the ink-blended triangles to line it up.
  7. Adhere the die cut flowers on the card base, skipping the flower bud.Ā
  8. Hot foil the "You are treasured" sentiment from the Keepsakes of the Heart press plate in Champagne on white cardstock. Die cut using the coordinating die.
  9. Adhere with foam adhesive on top of the flower stems.
  10. Embellish to your liking using Metallic Pearls in gold, or clear drops/gems/jewels of your choice.

I hope this card inspires you to have a closer look at your Essential dies and see how else you can use them on your projects!

We’d love to see what you create—don’t forget to tag us on social media so we can admire your amazing work. Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting! ✨
