Soft Florals Meet Modern Geometry

Sometimes the most striking cards come from letting just a few carefully chosen elements do the work. Inspired by Kinnari Zaveri, owner and founder of Pinkfresh Studio, today’s card pairs the delicate, folk-inspired florals of Cottage Flourish with the clean geometry of the Square Play Coverplate Die for a design that feels both soft and modern.

A gradient of pink ink blending creates a subtle backdrop, while fresh greens, touches of blue, and vibrant pinks bring the floral imagery to life. Rather than covering the entire background with the geometric pattern, just a portion of Square Play is used along one side of the card. The result is a beautiful balance of pattern, color, and white space—and a great reminder that sometimes less really is more.

How to re-create this card:

1. Create a top-folding A2 card base from white cardstock.
2. Cut a second white cardstock panel to A2 size. Lightly ink-blend Cherry Blossom along the right side of the panel, followed by Peony around the outer edge for additional depth. Allow the color to gradually fade to white as you move toward the left side of the panel.
3. Die cut the Square Play Coverplate Die three times from white cardstock. Trim three columns from each die-cut panel, then stack the three matching sections together with liquid glue. Adhere the stacked Square Play section vertically along the right side of the ink-blended panel.
4. Hot foil the Cottage Flourish Press Plate onto white cardstock using Opaque Black Hot Foil.
5. Color the foiled images using the coordinating stencils:
   1. Stencil 1: Fresh Pear, Grassy Knoll, Storm
   2. Stencil 2: Cherry Blossom, Peony, Candy Apple
   3. Stencil 3: Peony, Candy Apple
6. Die cut the finished Cottage Flourish images and sentiment with the coordinating dies. Die cut two additional blank layers for each piece, then stack the coordinating die cuts together with liquid glue for added dimension.
7. Die cut a wavy banner using the Basic Banners Die set. Lightly ink blend Cherry Blossom and Peony onto only the right side of the banner, fading the color to white toward the left to mimic the gradient on the background panel.
8. Adhere the three narrow Cottage Flourish border strips vertically along the left side of the card.
9. Position the main Cottage Flourish floral image over the right side of the card and adhere it with liquid glue only where it overlaps the Square Play section.
10. Adhere the ink-blended wavy banner across the lower portion of the floral arrangement using liquid glue, then add the stacked "Congratulations" sentiment over the banner to finish the card.

There’s so much to love about the contrast in this design. The Square Play Coverplate Die brings a strong, graphic element to the background, while the graceful lines of Cottage Flourish soften the geometry and keep the finished card feeling light and elegant.

The subtle transition from green into blue is especially beautiful within the foliage, and repeating the pink gradient on the Basic Banners piece helps tie the entire design together. Even with several layered elements, the card never feels overly busy or bulky. The stacked die cuts, partial coverplate, and selectively adhered floral image create plenty of visual dimension while still allowing the color, pattern, and beautiful Cottage Flourish imagery to take center stage.
