Playful Petals - Thank You Cards | TaeEun Yoo

11 Nov 2024 0 Comments

Hello everyone ! I hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today with a couple of Thank You cards featuring the Playful Petals product suite and some new Essentials die sets from the latest release. I followed the theme and color palette of the November Monthly Challenge to create these cards ! “Thank You” is the theme of the current challenge, and you can find the color palette for it in the graphic below.

-

To begin, I pressed the Playful Petals image in Detail Black twice on Neenah solar white cardstock and once on watercolor paper. For the two images on white cardstock, I used the coordinating stencil set. The large flowers were colored in Sunkissed, Peony, and Begonia, while the yellow flowers were colored with Sweet Mustard and Mimosa. The small flowers were stenciled in Waterfall, and the greenery was done in Citron, Bay Leaf and Paradise.

I watercolored the Playful Petals image on the watercolor paper in the same color scheme as the stenciled images.

After coloring, I cut all the images using the coordinating die. From one stenciled image, I cut off the three large flowers using the die.

To create the backgrounds, I used three colors: Citron, Mimosa and Storm.

For the first card, I ink blended three white panels: one with Mimosa, one with Citron, and the last one with both colors (two thirds in Mimosa and the rest in Citron, blending the colors where they meet).

For the base of the background, I cut the orange panel with a die from the Nested Rectangles: Postage Edge set and foam mounted it onto a white cardbase. The Citron panel was cut using a smaller die from the same set, and I cut it again with a die from the Nested Rectangles: Diagonal Stitch set to create a frame.

Then, I cut the blended panel using three dies from the Fancy Edgers set, to create an ombre panel with fancy edges as shown in the picture. I adhered the panel to the back of the Citron frame and foam mounted them onto the orange background panel.

I added the stenciled floral image to the background. The die cut solo flowers were also added using foam tape, after the petals were slightly curved.

The sentiment from the Playful Petals set was pressed in Detail Black, cut with the coordinating die, matted with a die cut piece ink blended in Storm, and added to the card.
Finally I added Gold Glitter Drops to the centers of the flowers.

For the second card, I started by ink-blending an A2 sized white panel in Sunkissed and cut it with a die from the Nested Rectangles: Diagonal Stitch set. Next, I pressed the Diagonal Plaid in Calico White and again in Mimosa creating subtle lines. I changed the direction of the press plate and pressed again only in Mimosa. I foam mounted the plaid background onto a white cardbase.

For the next layer, I cut a white panel with a die from the Nested Rectangles: Postage Edge set and matted the rectangle panel in Citron from the first card with it. I foam mounted this second layer slightly tilted over the plaid background. Lastly, I added a frame in Storm, which was cut using Nested Rectangles: Postage Edge set and Nested Rectangles: Diagonal Stitch set. I adhered this frame using foam tape, and tucked the watercolored floral image into the bottom edge of the frame.

The sentiment from the Here For You Sentiments stamp set was white heat embossed onto a piece of cardstock which was ink blended with Storm ink.

As a final touch, I cut two white bows using the Wrap Around Elements die set, ink blended one of them in Sunkissed, and added them to tie the flowers. Along with the Gold Glitter Drops, I also added a Matte Gold Metallic Pearl to the center of the bow.
