Painted Daisies Card | Angela Simpson
Hi friends! It's Angela here, and today I've got a project to share that features the Painted Daisies suite from the May Pinkfresh release. The suite includes a stamp, layering stencil set and die, and with 6 pieces in the stencil set, there are lots of opportunities to add all sorts of details with whatever ink colors you choose.
I began creating this card the way I always do, which is choosing a color palette. Purple and yellow is one of my favorite combinations, so I went with Pinkfresh inks in Candy Violet, Marigold, Apricot, and some Tidal Pond and Mint for the leaves. After stamping the Painted Daisies stamp in Detail Black ink, I worked through the stencils, beginning with a lighter hand for the first pass through. For the detailed stencils I applied a little more pressure, then went through and repeated the first couple of stencils once more so that I could soften the contrast between the shades.
With the stenciling complete, I used the Painted Daisies die to cut the flowers out, then die cut a simple frame using the Blanket Stitched Rectangles die set. And, while my die cutting machine was out, I also created a white background using the new Stitched Diamonds Cover Plate.
Rather than using the Painted Daisies die cut as a single piece, I trimmed it down and hid the cut edges under the top left and bottom right corners of the frame. Foam tape went on the back of the frame and florals, as well as my sentiment which came from the Script Sentiments Hot Foil Plate. I made a whole bunch of these sentiments in an earlier craft session, then used the Pinkfresh Solid Foil Plate to reverse-foil another batch. I love how the reverse-foiled sentiment stands out a bit more on a white background than a regularly-foiled one on white cardstock, and decided that since it was super shiny on its own, the card didn't need any other embellishments.
If you haven't yet checked out the Painted Daisies suite (as well as the rest of the latest release), I definitely recommend taking a look. These flowers are so perfect for summer and look fabulous in many other color palettes.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out this project, and until next time, happy crafting! - Angela
