One Image, Two Cards - Twilight Tales Inspiration | TaeEun Yoo

Hello and happy Friday! It’s TaeEun here today with a pair of cards featuring the Twilight Tales suite from the Fables & Forests release.The suite is filled with whimsical charm, and I had so much fun creating a coordinating duo of cards with flipped layouts.

Here's how I put it together:

1. Press the Twilight Tales Press Plate image onto a white panel in black.
2. Color the image using the coordinating stencils in following colors.
   - Book covers: Storm, Slumber, Apricot, Coral Reef
   - Book pages: Sheer Freesia, Misty Coast with a bit of Ocean Breeze
   - Feathers: Coral Reef, Ocean Breeze
   - Stars: Sunshine, Marigold
   - Light bulbs: Sunshine, Ocean Breeze
3. Cut out the image with the coordinating die and fussy cut along the top right and bottom left corners.
4. Cut two white A2 panels to place them in an angle onto the cardbase.
5. Ink blend one end of the front panels in ombré blue using Ocean Breeze, Slumber and Storm.
6. Add texture with the Petal Trellis die on one panel and Bloomlight Stitches on the other.
7. Place the Twilight Tales pieces to the angled edge of the front panels as shown in the picture, trim the excess and foam mount the front panels to white cardbases.
8. For the card with Petal Trellis: press the sentiment directly onto the bottom of the cardbase in Detail Black.
9. For the card with Bloomlight Stitches:
   - splatter white opaque ink to the front panel
   - heat emboss the sentiment in white on Storm-blended cardstock, layered over a strip of white cardstock for extra pop and add it to the card.
10. For embellishments, use Sky Blue clear drops and Starry Sky Ombré Glitter Drops respectively.

By separating the frame shape diagonally, I was able to use each piece to create two upside-down variations of the same design.

Tip: When working with large frame-style images, don’t be afraid to cut them apart and use the pieces creatively. A diagonal cut can double your design options, giving you two unique cards from one image. Try pairing different background dies or textures to keep each version distinct while still cohesive as a set.
