There is something incredibly satisfying about letting color and pattern take center stage, especially when the design itself does most of the work for you. Today’s card features the Petal Mosaic cover plate die and coordinating stencils, creating a bold yet balanced background that feels vibrant without being overwhelming.

By using three tones within each color family—teals, greens, and oranges—I was able to build depth and movement across the entire panel while keeping the layout clean and uncluttered. A softly layered vellum heart anchors the sentiment and gently diffuses the pattern beneath it, making this card a perfect example of how thoughtful layering can elevate a simple design.

How to recreate this card:

1. Create a top-folding A2 card base from white cardstock.
2. Die cut the Petal Mosaic cover plate die from white cardstock.
3. Use the coordinating Petal Mosaic stencils to add color. Work gradually, starting with the lightest shade and building depth with the darker tones, further into the center each time. 
   1. Stencil 1: Peach Fuzz, Clementine, Fruit Punch
   2. Stencil 2: Mint, Meadow, Evergreen
   3. Stencil 3: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove
4. Adhere the completed stenciled panel directly to the card base using liquid glue.
5. Die cut two frames using the second and third largest double-stitched rectangle dies from white cardstock. Stack and adhere them together for subtle dimension, then adhere the frame directly over the stenciled panel.
6. Die cut a heart from vellum using the Radiating Hearts & Stars die.
7. Stamp and die cut the sentiment, then adhere it to the vellum heart using foam tape.
8. Add additional foam tape behind the vellum heart, positioning it toward the upper center of the framed panel to soften the pattern beneath and draw the eye to the greeting.
9. Finish the card without embellishments to maintain a clean and simple aesthetic.

This card is a great reminder that bold pattern does not have to mean busy design. By keeping the layout simple and allowing the Petal Mosaic stenciling to shine, the finished card feels polished, modern, and effortlessly elegant. The vellum heart plays an important role here, softening the background just enough to make the sentiment stand out while still letting the color work remain visible.
