Inky Floral Hugs | Angela Simpson
Hey there friends! Angela here, and today I've got a project to share that features the new Inky Floral Cling Stamp and Layering Stencils from the July release.
This card, while simple, was so much fun to make. I began by stamping the Inky Floral Stamp with Tidal Pond, repeating 4 times to darken the lines as much as possible. Next up came a whole bunch of color and the stencils, where I used Pinkfresh inks in Raspberry Bliss, Passion Fruit, Clementine, Emerald City, and Candy Violet.
I loved how the stenciling turned out so much, and didn't want to cover up a lot of it with additional elements. It did need a sentiment though, and since I went bold with the Tidal Pond for the stamping, I needed a sentiment that was also bold so it wouldn't have to compete for visual attention. I decided to use the Heather's Lower Case and Lea's Ornate Lower Case die sets to create the word 'hugs' from purple cardstock, then embossed a 'from me to you' from the Simply Sentiments - Hello stamp set. (This was released quite a while ago, but has lots of sentiments that work well when paired with larger die cut words).
The smaller oval from the Blanket Stitched Ovals die set was the perfect size to layer under the sentiments. By stacking 3 of each die cut letter and by hiding some foam adhesive behind them, I was able to create some dimension. Adding the vellum rectangle behind the sentiments was also a really great way to avoid covering up too much of the background image.
I hope you feel inspired by this card, and that you'll check out the Inky Floral stamp, die, and the rest of the new release here. Until next time, happy crafting! - Angela
