Happy Hummingbird on dark Background | TaeEun Yoo

Hello and Happy Friday everyone! It’s TaeEun hier today sharing a Hello card featuring the Happy Humming Bird suite  from the Pure Bliss Release. I chose warm autumnal tones - yellow, orange, brown and yellow-green - for the image and placed it on a dark olive green background in an ombré fashion.
A dark background helps your bright focal image really pop, making it more eye-catching !

Here’s how I made this card:

1. Heat emboss the Happy Hummingbird image in Liquid Platinum on white panel
2. Stencil the image using the coordinating stencil set.
   Ink colors used:
   
   • Flowers & hummingbirds: Sweet Mustard, Apricot and Mango Sorbet
   • Leaves: Bay Leaf and Sage
   • Add darker colors to the center of the flowers using the 1/2” blending brushes. 
   • Add Warm Buff to the belly of the hummingbirds
   
   
3. Die cut the image using the coordinating die.
4. Ink blend an A2 sized yellow panel with Sage, Eucalyptus, Spruce Tips, and Lush Forest, keeping it darker towards the edges.
5. Dry emboss the panel using the Scalloped Grid coverplate die.
6. Cut the scalloped border on the background panel with scissors and adhere it to a Kraft cardbase using foam tape.
7. Attach the die cut image to the card with foam tape for extra dimension.
8. Heat emboss the sentiment from the Classic Correspondence stamp set on vellum in Liquid Platinum
9. Cut the vellum with the sentiment into a banner and adhere it to the card.
10. Finish off with three Sparkling Champagne Metallic Pearls.

I love how the warm tones bring a cozy autumn feel to this card, and the dark background enhances the look of the focal image. I hope this project inspires you to try rich color contrasts in your own designs!
