Happy Friday, Pinkfresh friends! Yasmin here sharing with you a fun and delicate encouraging inspiration card made with a “Floral & Side-Slide” look using Today is Special Stamp, Today is Special Stencil, and Today is Special Die. Besides that, I used Floral Backdrop Coverplate Die to add texture, Glitter Drops: Gold to add sparkle, and last but not least, PFS- Ink Pads and a few ink blending brushes to add pops of color to the flowers and leaves. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it.

Therefore, I went ahead to do the stamping, so to do that, I placed an A2 size white card panel inside the stamping tool. Then, I lined up over it the floral stamp image included in Today is Special Stamp. Thus, to get the stamping done over the card panel, I used Warm Buff Ink to get a subtle no-line stamping look. Quickly, after getting the stamping done over the card panel, I removed the card panel from the stamping tool but not the stamp image, so I could go back and have the image re-stamp again after the layered stenciling. As for the stenciling steps, I used a few ink blending brushes along with each stencil included in Today is Special Stencil set.

As for the ink combination used on this beautiful floral stamped image, I used; Ballet Slipper Ink, Coral Reef Ink, Passion Fruit Ink, Marigold Ink, Clementine Ink, Peach Fuzz Ink, and Apricot Ink for the flowers and buds. Olive Ink, Evergreen Ink, Gathered Twigs Ink, and a tiny touch of Detail Black Ink for the leaves and sprigs. Right after getting the floral image inked up, I placed the card panel back into the stamping tool to have the floral image re-stamp more than once using Warm Buff Ink. And as soon as I got that step done, I set it aside to let the inks soak into the cardstock panel.

Meanwhile, I placed a half sheet of 8.5 x 11.0 inches with the longer side horizontally over the scoreboard tool to trace over a scoring line at 1/2 of an inch and a second scoring line at 4-1/2 inches. Next, after tracing the scoring lines over, I proceeded to fold them over inwards, and then I turned the card base to have the opening on the left side. Soon after that, I did that, I used the Floral Backdrop Coverplate Die along with the die-cut machine to add texture to an A2 size white card panel. Followed by that, I trimmed down 1/8 of an inch from each side using the paper trimmer, and then I got the backing of it glued down with liquid glue to the front flap of the card base.

Afterward, once I got the textured card panel glued to the card base, I used a ruler and a pencil to mark 3/4 of an inch from the fold inwards to the left side of the card base. Also, I created another mark at 1.0 inch from top to bottom and from bottom to top because I was going carefully cut an opening slip for the slide effect. So, after getting the marked measurements, I used a paper trimmer to carefully cut through the textured card panel and card base and between the top and bottom marked inches.

You can take a closer look in the image above at how the cut looks on the right side of the card base. Moving on, I proceeded to add a piece of white cardstock and use that piece to hold together the slide mechanism. The piece measurements are W 3-3/4 x H 1.0 inches, and I added a 1/4 of strip craft foam adhesive to one end and double-sided to the other end. So, after getting the previous step done, I slide the piece of cardstock inside the opening area with the double-sided adhesive facing down while I left the other end with the craft foam adhesive facing up on the right side.

Next, in the same way, as I added texture to the card panel, I added texture to a second panel, and then I got it trimmed down to W 3-3/4 x H 2-1/2 inches. Then, I slid down the cardstock piece and worked on the inner part of the slide effect. So, I used a circle puncher to create a half-moon opening in the front and back of the card base. Followed by that, I peeled off the back side of the double-sided adhesive to get the inner card panel adhered to the slide effect. By the way, the inside card panel measurements are W 3-3/4 x H 5-3/8 inches, and to get it adhered to the slide effect, I went ahead to straight up the slide piece and then got the panel adhered. Nevertheless, once I confirmed that the slide effect slid up and down perfectly, I added adhesive to the other side to completely closed the card up but I made sure that there was no adhesive touching the inner panel to let it slide up and down without a problem.

Moving on, after getting the card base completed with its slide effect, I got the slide effect down, and I proceeded to get the backing of the craft foam adhesive peeled off and get the smaller textured card panel adhered together. Lastly, to add an extra touch to the slider effect, I used a tab puncher to punch out two tabs, and then I got them glued down to the smaller panel in a way that you can see in the image above basically to use them as a handler for the slider effect.

Lastly, I used the Today is Special Die to cut out the floral image from the cardstock, and then I got the bottom part glued down to the smaller textured panel. Also, I used one of the card sentiments from the stamp set along with the coordinating die included in the die set to stamp and cut out the sentiment 3X from white cardstock to add dimension to it. As you can see in the image above, I kept it simple by using the same ink hue that I used for the floral stamping to keep a subtle look.

Also, to add more interaction, I used another sentiment from the stamp set to get it stamped with the same ink hue on the inside panel. I did this step last because I needed to make sure where exactly I needed to get the card sentiment stamped to hide it when the card is slid down, and because the card has not had a whole lot of dimension, I had no problem getting it stamped on the right side using the stamping tool even after the card was completely assembled.

Last but certainly not least, I went ahead to get glued down some of the Glitter Drops: Gold to add the card a little touch of sparkle on the inside and out. And finally, this is how the card looks when is finished off with an opening at the top so the inner panel can pop up when you slide it up. You can get the bottom part adhered, but I prefer to let it open so I, or the recipient, can grab the card from the bottom opening with one hand and interact with the slide effect with the other.
