Dimensional Chevrons | Jenny Colacicco
Hi Everyone! Jenny here, and today I have a bright and fresh card that mixes supplies from recent releases from Pinkfresh Studio, with a wonderful background stamp from an earlier release, to create a dimensional chevron card. You can change this up with any background stamp in your stash, and of course, any ink colors!
To start, you'll need two panels of white cardstock trimmed to 6 x 6 (or just a little smaller) to match your background and ideally a stamp positioner (this helps with lining up images later on but isn't essential). I am using the Lemon Lush background which is one of my faves - I love the fruit nestled in the foliage and florals - very different. I stamped it twice in black ink using my MISTI onto white cardstock.
On the first panel, I did some ink blending using Lemon Whip ink (all over the panel), Sunshine ink around the edges into towards the centre, and Clementine around the edges. On the second panel, I used the brand new Essentials: Nested Chevron die. This left me with lots of little chevron pieces that I wanted to apply over the top of the yellow panel almost like a puzzle.
I used the thinner chevron pieces that come out of the die, and ink blended them this time with a pretty pink blend, first using Ballet Slipper ink and then going round the edges with Bubblegum ink. Doing this after die cutting the pieces allows defined emphasis around the edges which you can't get if you ink blend before die cutting. I added thin foam tape behind each of the thin chevron pieces and aligned them onto the yellow panel (which I hadn't trimmed yet - this makes it easier to align the pieces) and adhered in place. I then trimmed down the panel to 4.25" x 5.5" and adhered to a white notecard. I also added some clear shimmer to the pink chevrons with a Clear Wink of Stella marker.
To finish the card, I die cut a circle from vellum using the smallest inner die from the Essentials: Diagonal Stitched Circles set. I then heat embossed in white this beautiful (and perfectly sized) sentiment from the Incredibly Grateful stamp set. I finished with some pale pink crystals from the Essentials: Crystals set, perfect for hiding adhesive in order to adhere the vellum!
Don't you just love that chevron dimension created with the foam tape - fun because if you look from directly overhead it looks flat!
