Citrus Blooms Thinking of You Card | Angela Simpson

Citrus Blooms Thinking of You Card | Angela Simpson

Hi friends! It's Angela here, back with a card project that features a few newer Pinkfresh products, as well as some oldies (but goodies!) Citrus fruits are one of my favorite things about summer, and if you're a fan of farmer's markets like me, I'm sure you've seen heaps of varieties on display lately. This reminded me of the Pinkfresh Citrus Blooms suite that was released last year, and in a recent crafting session, it was the star of the show.

To get started, I stamped the images in the Citrus Blooms stamp set in Detail Black ink, then selected some ink colors to use with the layering stencils - Coral Reef, Evergreen, Olive, Lemon Whip and Clementine. I've actually used these same colors with this set before, but I love the way they look! I worked through the layering stencils one at a time, going back with small ink blending brushes to soften the blends and create more visual depth. Once the images were all colored in, I used the coordinating die to cut them all out.

Next came the background panel - a clean and simple, but textured layer that you see behind the blooms and sentiment. For this, I used the Hexagon Tiles Cover Plate die and a white A2 panel. Then, for the piece on top, I foiled the largest diamond in the Nested Diamonds Hot Foil plate set and cut a window out of the inside with one of the Nested Diamond Dies. Spellbinders shiny gold foil perfectly matches the sentiments in the Foiled Sentiments pack, so that was a natural fit.

With all my elements created, I arranged a few of the Citrus Blooms around the upper left edge of the diamond window, holding them in place with temporary adhesive while I secured them from underneath with foam tape. After covering the entire backside of that diamond panel with more foam tape, I mounted it over the textured background panel, then popped it all on an A2 card base. The sentiment was the final piece, and again, I put foam tape under that to give it some dimension.

And there you have it - a clean and simple card with bright pops of color and plenty of shiny foiled goodness! I had plenty of leftover Citrus Blooms images after completing this project, and could have easily created another 1-2 cards with them. That's great news if you're short on crafting time, and let's be honest - we all are!

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my card today. I'll see you back here soon, and in the meantime, happy crafting! - Angela

I haven’t tried using the washi tape yet! It looks interesting. I’m going to have to try it. All the new stamps are great.
