Bold Contrast with Dramatic Ink Blending | Jody Morrow

Sometimes the most powerful designs are built on contrast—and this card is a perfect example. Using the Lush Elegance product suite, I focused on achieving deep, rich ink blending paired with striking white die cuts. The background was ink blended with intense blues and purples, creating a luminous, moody foundation that makes every element stand out. Layered over that, a crisp white trellis die cut adds strong geometric texture, while a stitched panel in the center provides balance and breathing space for the floral frame. Both the floral image and sentiment were hot foiled in matte black foil, then stacked with a blended offset die cut for depth. The finished result is bold, dramatic, and full of movement—an elegant study in contrast and clarity.

How to recreate this card:

1. Create a top-folding A2 card base from white cardstock. 
2. Ink blend a white A2 card panel using Sapphire in the center, Stargazer around the perimeter, and a touch of Opulence layered over the very outer edge. Adhere to the card.
3. Die cut the lattice from white cardstock and adhere to the card. 
4. Die cut the third-largest rectangle from the Single Stitch Rectangles and adhere to the center of the card with foam tape. 
5. Hot foil the images and sentiment with black hot foil. 
6. Add color with the coordinating stencils.
   1. Stencil 1: Citron, Spanish Moss, Evergreen
   2. Stencil 2: Sapphire, Stargazer, Limoncello 
   3. Stencil 3: Stargazer
   4. Stencil 4: Hydrangea, Opulence, Limoncello
   5. Stencil 5: Evergreen
7. Die cut all of the elements and stack with one blank. 
8. Cut an additional sentiment blank and ink blend using Stargazer and Opulence. Adhere to the sentiment, offset. 
9. Adhere flowers to the white rectangle using liquid glue.
10. Adhere the sentiment using a double layer of foam tape.
