Blooming Botanical Thank You Card | Angela Simpson
Hi friends! Angela here, and today I'm sharing a card that I made with a few of the beautiful new products from Pinkfresh Studio's February release. Stamping, stenciling, die cutting and foiling - this one's got a bit of everything!
The new Botanicals and Butterflies cling stamp features a lovely blooming branch, as well as a few pop-out butterfly stamps, and the coordinating stencil set allows for adding all sorts of color variety. I began my cardmaking session by stamping, stenciling and die cutting all of the images on the stamp, but as you can see in the photos, eventually decided to save the butterflies for another project and just feature the branch and its cute little buds. I used a combination of Pinkfresh inks in Stargazer and Candy Violet, going in with a slightly heavier hand for the more detailed stencil layers.
My vision for this card was to have the colorful branch appear to be coming out from behind a frame, so the frame is what I made next. To do this, I ran an A2 panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine with the Floral Grid Cover plate, then used a basic nested rectangle die to pop out the area in the middle.
I tried tucking the branch under the frame and positioning it over a white A2 card base, but the background still needed a little something else. As is often the case when I run into this issue, I reached for the Curvy Leaves die set (it's a workhorse in my craft room!), die cut a whole bunch of them from white cardstock, and used those pieces to add visual interest to the background. From here, I secured the branch to my frame, lined the back with foam tape, and mounted it onto a white A2 card base.
Finally, for the sentiment, I reached for the Fancy Script Words hot foil plates. There's a really nice visual contrast that gets created when foiling is done on a deep color of cardstock, so I chose shiny gold foil and Concord & 9th Midnight cardstock to achieve this. Stacking the foiled sentiment on a couple of extra navy die cuts helped to make it more sturdy, and adding this to the card gave it just the little touch of shine that I was looking for.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by to check out this post today. I hope you're feeling inspired to create, and if you haven't already, be sure to check out the new Pinkfresh Studio release here. Until next time, take care, and happy crafting! - Angela
