Arches and Citrus Blooms || Angela Simpson
Hey there, Pinkfresh friends! Angela here, back with another card that features the recently-released Arch Backdrop hot foil plate and die. I've been having so much fun with this one, and today I've got a new way to use the set that you may not have thought about yet.
As you may know, the Arch Backdrop fits perfectly on an A2 card front in a vertical orientation, and that's exactly what I started with when I sat down for my craft session. But the geometry-lover in me didn't want to just leave it on its own, so I foiled one more arch and cut out the center with the coordinating die, just like the first one. This time, I put the arch in my trimer and sliced it vertically, straight down the middle to create two symmetrical pieces.
Next I turned them upside down, then swapped them around (left half to the right side, right half to the left side). Finally, I tucked the top ends under the first arch, and secured the pieces together on the back to complete my A2 background panel.
While I could have sat and looked at that shiny foil all day, the card needed some color at this point. For this, I reached for the Pinkfresh Studio Citrus Blooms stamp, stencil and die, as well as inks in Coral Reef, Evergreen, Olive, Lemon Whip and Clementine. I stamped the images on white cardstock first, then worked my way through the 7 layering stencils with my inks and blending brushes until they were all colored in. I didn't want to cover up too much of the arch design in the background, so after die cutting the Citrus Blooms, I chose 2 pieces and arranged them along with a Thanks sentiment from the Fancy Script Words hot foil set.
The layers and flow of the lines in the background already created a bit of visual dimension, but I finished the card with a little more by popping the flowers and sentiment forward on foam tape. I also had a lot of leftover Citrus Bloom images after this, which I'm excited to have ready to go when I sit down to create my next card.
I hope this post has left you feeling inspired to create, and be sure to tag me, @mycraftyperspective, and @pinkfreshstudio on Instagram so we can see what you've been making. Until next time, have a wonderful day and happy crafting!
