Adding texture to your backgrounds | Raquel Arribas

Adding texture to your backgrounds | Raquel Arribas

Hello again Pinkfresh Studio friends!

Raquel here today sharing some fun and easy to make ideas to add extra texture to your backgrounds:

My idea behind these projects was to dry emboss a panel created with some colorful stripes. I love to use stripes in my designs and I refrain myself to use them so often but this time I wanted to share this technique.

I choose a christmassy color palette and used the Essentials Slim Stripes dies to cut out a bunch of stripes.

I use an A2 panel but this also works with any other size or even a partially stripped panel. Once I had all my panel covered with stripes I used the new Snowflakes Coverplate die to dry emboss it. I prefer this technique over die cutting because of the thickness of the paper and I think the impression on the paper is more beautiful this way.

Next up I used a sentiment from the set Floral Bauble Stamp and cut it out using the smallest circle die from the Mini Slimline Essentials Bundle. I also used a bigger circle die from this set cut out of gold cardstock to add some extra shine and texture. I decided to add some interest to this sentiment so I frame it with some berries from the Winter Berries Frame Stamp both gold heat embossed in vellum and white cardstock.

I also added some additional greenery accents using the Leafy Branch die with glitter cardstock.

While making these projects some other ideas came to my mind so I created some more projects following the same idea: dry embossing a background with colorful stripes:

For this project, I adhered four colorful stripes across a white A2 panel. I used the Essentials Ornate Banner die set  to cut it out and used the Stitched Christmas Star Coverplate to dry emboss the negative piece of this panel. I foam mounted it onto a panel already cut out with the same Stitched Christmas Star Coverplate and decorated it with a wreath I had created using just the branches from the Floral Bauble Stamp . Lastly I added a sentiment from the set Christmas Presents Stamp. Since I used the same color scheme both on the stripes and the branches I decided to add my sentiment in black.

With the same technique, I finished up two more projects by just covering part of an A2 panel.

In this these last projects I used again the Snowflakes Coverplate die to dry emboss the stripped background and add the biggest snowflake from the Large Snowflake Set.

I hope you liked these ideas to try out with your backgrounds.

Have fun creating and thank you so much for stopping by!

Raquel

I love all the great ideas using strips and embossing them. So many ways to use the strips with different designs….love the bright colors. A good way to use scraps of paper. I think it could also be varied sizes of strips to change it up. I like the use of a pop of color with the stripes on the framed card also. So many nice designs.

What are the colors of card stock you used in the wreath with the four colors? Are they Pink Fresh??

I love all of these rainbow cards. So pretty. I’m going to have to try this for my Christmas cards.
