Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far! It’s TaeEun here today with a floral slimline card featuring the Garden Grace washi product suite from the Daydream Edit Release. The slimline format is perfect for creating a flowing floral arrangement giving these graceful blooms plenty of room to shine. For the background, I was inspired by this month’s challenge theme, Striking Stripes, and used the Slimline Gradiating Stripes Stencil together with the Slim Diagonal Stripes Die. I also used the challenge color palette in softer shades to give the card a dreamy pastel look. Here is how I made the card.

1. Stamp the Garden Grace images on white cardstock first with embossing ink and then with Detail Black ink.
2. Heat emboss the images using clear embossing powder.
3. Color the images using the coordinating stencil set in the following colors.
   - pink flowers: Sparkling Rose, Coral Reef, Bubble Gum
   - yellow flowers: Marigold, Coral Reef
   - blue flowers: Summer Shower, Sparkling Rose
   - Flower centers: Marigold, Sparkling Rose
   - Leaves: Grassy Knoll, Olive
4. Die cut the images using the coordinating dies.
5. Ink blend a slimline sized white panel partially with Coral Reef, Hydrangea and Summer Shower over the Slimline Gradiating Stripes Stencil.
6. Dry emboss the background panel with the Essentials: Slim Diagonal Stripes die and cut it using the Blanket Stitch Slimline Rectangles die.
7. Adhere the background panel to a white slimline cardbase.
8. Arrange the floral elements with foam tape as shown in the picture.
9. Stamp the sentiment in Detail Black, die cut it, and add it to the card using foam tape.
10. Finish the card with Lilac, Sky Blue, Iridescent Clear Drops.
    

TIP: The clear heat embossing gives the outlines a crisp, clean finish and also helps prevent the black lines from smudging while stenciling. An easy way to achieve this is to stamp the images first with embossing ink, then with black ink, before heat embossing.

I love how the soft striped background adds interest without taking away from the floral arrangement. The pastel colors also give the card a light and delicate feel, while the slimline format provides plenty of room for the graceful floral design. It’s one of the things I especially love about slimline cards, even with abundant floral elements, the design still doesn’t feel busy :)!
