Creating a Colorful Layout with Tone-on-Tone Details | Karlla Dauer

Hello Pinkfresh Friends, Karlla here and I'm so glad to share this layout with you.

For this project, I wanted to bring in something playful, and when I saw this color wheel, I fell in love.

I like tone-on-tone details and matching the colors of accessories to the papers.

And so, here we go, let's have some fun with the BEAUTIFUL "Fresh Start" collection.

Step by step instructions:

Cut out the colored circle from the 12" x 12" The Next Chapter paper. Optional: sew an irregular stitch along the edge.
Do the same with the 6" x 8" version of this paper from the 6" x 8" paper pad.
Attach the smaller circle onto the larger one using foam tape, lining up the colors.
Adhere the assembled circles to a white sheet of cardstock (12" x 12") using foam adhesive.
Add the photo with foam tape to the right side of the circles.
Fussy cut elements from different patterned papers that match the colors of the circle (e.g.: tickets from the Begin Again paper, scallops from the Great Things Await paper), then adhere hem to the layout using foam tape, creating different heights.
Add pieces from different types of embellishments, such as Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard Stickers, Puffy Stickers, etc., matching them to the colors of the circle for a tone-on-tone look.

Tip: When your layout includes lots of colorful embellishments and elements, try using a tone-on-tone approach. It helps create a more cohesive look, keeps the page from feeling too busy or overwhelming, and takes the guesswork out of deciding where each piece should go.
