Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a fun Halloween layout made with the Boo Ville collection by Paige Taylor Evans for Pinkfresh Studio. For this 12 x12 layout I wanted to create something a little different, so I decided to turn my page into a stack of spooky books. The idea was to recreate several books oiled one on top of another with my photo peeking out from behind them. The title, Spooky Tales, was the perfect finishing touch for this little collection of Halloween stories.

Step by Step

1. Prepare the books. I started whit a sheet of white cardstock as my 12 x 12 background. Then I selected several patterned papers from the Boo Ville collection and cut them into rectangles in different sizes. I varied both the width and the length  so that each one would look like a different book.
2. Add the stitching. To give the books some extra texture and make them look more like individual covers, I stitched around the edges of each patterned paper rectangle by hand.
3. Stack the books. Once all the pieces were ready, I arranged them one on top of another. I used different patterns and colors to make the stack fun and colorful while keeping the books as the main focus of the layout.
4. Create the titles. Now it's time to give each book its own spooky story. I used different embellishments from the collection to create a title for each book.
5. Add the photo. For the photo, I wanted to create the illusion that the little one was actually hiding behind the books and peeking over the top. I carefully fussy cut the photo and arranged it behind the top book.
6. Finish the page. Finally, I added more Halloween embellishments around the stack, ghosts, bats.. and a few stars. I also added the Spooky Tales title around the books to complete the idea of this little stack of Halloween stories.

I really love how this page turned out. A Boo Ville collection has so many fun patterns and embellishments that it was perfect for creating my own little collection of spooky tales.

I hope this inspires you to look at your patterned papers in a different way and create a layout around an unexpected idea.
