Simple & Sweet Layout Inspiration + Process Video | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey there, Pinkfresh Studio fans! It's Kathleen back with you today and I am excited to finally share my first projects that I made using the gorgeous new Simple & Sweet collection with you!

I don't know about you, but my favourite thing about this new collection are the colours! Whenever I look at them, I immediately have to think of ice cream and sorbet, and of course, summer! For my first layout I chose to scrap a photo that has been taken on our trip to the Costa Brava very recently. I am so happy that I finally have new photos to scrap - and very pretty summery ones at that ;)

You can find the process video for this layout at the end of this blogpost :)

For the design of my layout, I was inspired by the photo I was using. The photo shows some very pretty Bougainvillea twines climbing up a bright white wall. So I wanted to keep this look on my page, too. Behind my photo I added a little bit of watercolour in yellow, peach and pink, that would not only match the colours in my photo, but also in the embellishments that I planned to use.

I knew I wanted to have the pretty peachy orange butterfly and the pink flower cluster from the chipboard sticker sheet, as well as the gold and white striped frame from the same pack. I layered them behind and on top of my photo to create a cluster in the center of my layout. I also sneaked in that supercute white floral die cut frame, for which I used the Floral Squares die set.

I also added in some elements from the ephemera pack, like the label at the top that reads lazy days & sun rays (which was perfect for this photo!), a tag behind the photo, a small flower and the sunkissed part of my title. For the paradise part of the title I used the white puffy alphabet stickers and I love that they come in four different colours in this collection!

Because I really, really wanted to use at least some of the pretty papers from the collection, I decided to use two of them (Good Things & Simplicity) to create a thin frame around my layout and repeat the soft yellow and pink - I love how that turned out!

Lastly, I added some more golden elements around my page (from this gorgeous sticker set), sprinkled some enamel dots around and, of course, added some paint splatters. I am very happy with how this page turned out, since it has exactly the look and feel I was going for: light, bright and summery. What do you think?

Now for my next layout I was inspired by the super fun Fresh Air paper with all those labels (or tags?) in the different colours of the collection. I decided to fussy cut lots of them out and then arranged them on the left side of my layout; going from the lightest to the darkest colour (more or less).

I tucked my photo in between some of the label strips, right next to the pink ones because those fit the colours in my photo best. I really love this shot that I took of our sweet, silly girl. I put one of her toys on her head, and really, she couldn't care less. Cracks me up everytime! :D

Because the paper strips themselves were already quite busy, I only added in a few colour-coordinated embellishments here and there. I like to mix different textures, so I used some pieces from the ephemera pack, some chipboard stickers, some puffy stickers and also some of the epoxy stickers.

For my title I used a mix of three different puffy alpha sticker sets: the bigger cornflower blue ones, and the smaller white and mint ones. And again, I sprinkled some enamel dots around, added my journaling in a few different places (some of the label strips were perfect because they had some space to add text) and finally added some colour-coordinated stitching, too.

Now that I look at the layout and write about it, however, I notice that I did not add any paint splatters, which is very unusual for me. So I might go back and do that to fill some of the white space on the right side.

But other than that, I am very happy with how this and the first layout turned out. But then again, you can't really go wrong with any of these products from this gorgeous collection!

What do you think? And what is your favourite piece in this collection? I'm curious to find out ;)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Kathleen
