Hello crafty friends! It's Susi back on the Pinkfresh Studio blog and today I'm excited to share a new 12 x 12 scrapbook layout featuring a classic grid design with a fun and festive twist. This design is perfect for showcasing embellishments in an organized yet playful way.

For this page, I worked with the Very Merry Christmas collection using, using patterned papers from the 6 x 8 paper pack. This layout is also a great opportunity to use leftover paper scraps from your favorite collection. I also worked with the Artistic Bows Die set and the Basic Banners Die.

Step-by-Step instructions

1. Create the bows. Die cut six bows using the Artistic Bows Die Set. Mix and match different patterned papers from the collection to give each bow its own personality.
2. Add Banners. Use the Basic Banners Die to cut small banners. These will be added to the bows later to give them and extra decorative touch ( tuck them behind or under the bows)
3. Build the bow bouquets. Start creating small bouquets by layering embellishments onto each bow. Use a tone-on-tone technique with Puffy stickers, cardstock stickers, and others embellishments from the collection.
4. Create the grid. Arrange your layout in a 3 x 3 grid. Place your photo in the center square and fill the remaining spaces with the bow bouquets. I created one column in red, one in green and one in purple , but you can also mix patterns and colors for a more playful look.
   
5. Final embellishing. Add the finishing touches with Enamel dots for small pops of shine  and tie small pieces of Baker Twine around the photo and some of the bouquets for extra texture and charm.

Quick Tip

To make the grid stand out even more try creating faux stitching around each square using a Fuse tool, just like I did here. If you want to take it a step further, try hand stitching the grid lines for even more texture and detail.

Another fun idea is to slightly tilt some of the bows or raise them with foam adhesive to add extra dimension while still keeping the grid structure visible.
