Hi crafty friends! Today I'm excited to share a new 12 x 12 layout featuring the gorgeous new Ordinary Joys collection from Pinkfresh Studio. For this project, I challenged myself to create a page entirely from fussy cut elements, turning a patterned paper into the star of the design.

The inspiration came from one of the papers filled with beautiful leaves and branches. After a little relaxing fussy cutting, I transformed those images into a layered wreath, like composition surrounding my photo. The result is a layout full of texture, movement and cozy seasonal vibes while still keeping plenty of clean white space.

Step by Step

1. Fussy cut the leaves and branches. Carefully fussy cut all the leaves, branches and botanical elements from the patterned paper. Don't worry if this step takes a little time, the final result is absolutely worth it!

2. Create the base composition. Arrange the larger leaves and branches in a circular shape in the center of the layout. Begin with the lighter green elements and build a wreath around the area where your photo will be placed.

3. Add color variation. Once the green foliage is in place, start layering the warm toned leaves at the top of the composition. The combination of soft greens with vibrant oranges and reds creates a beautiful seasonal transition and naturally draws the eye toward the photo.

4. Add dimension. To give the layout more depth, adhere some leaves directly onto the background and raise others with foam adhesive.

5. Place the photo. Add your photo in the center of the composition, slightly overlapping the surrounding leaves. This allows the foliage to frame the image naturally and become part of the storytelling.

6. Embellish the page. Now add small embellishments from the collection. Scatter a few extra leaves around the outside the main cluster to reinforce the feeling of movement. Complete the layout with enamel dots.

TIP

When working with large amounts of fussy cut elements , try grouping them by color before you start building your layout. This makes it much easier to create smooth color transitions and balanced cluster.

I hope this project inspires you to take a closer look at your patterned papers and discover all the pòssibilities hidden within them. Sometimes a pair of scissors and a little patience are all you need to create a truly unique layout.
