Blue as contrast on scrapbooking layout | Janna Werner for Pinkfresh StudioHello crafty friends, Janna here. In my last post, I talked about black versus white cardstock as background paper (click here to read) and what benefits you get out of using black cardstock. Black is a very intense color, so for those of you who prefer a more decent way of adding contrast to a page, I got two examples of using blue as design element.

The other colors on this page are rather decent, except the red highlights. The blue creates a great contrast to the white and pastel colors, the page appears dynamic and powerful. If this is too much for you, try adding blue contrast in smaller portions, just like I did on the second layout.

When using a light patterned paper in the back, make sure to not add too many dark elements on top as the page might look too heavy or cluttered. I used blue contrast highlights on the top, middle and bottom part. This connects the areas of the layout.

Hope you enjoyed today´s post and that you´ll give blue (and black) a try as background paper - make sure to tag @pinkfreshstudio and @jannawerner when uploading your blue contrast projects on Instagram, so we can shower you with likes. ♥

Best,
Janna
