Using hot foil backgrounds to step up your designs| Raquel Arribas

Using hot foil backgrounds to step up your designs| Raquel Arribas

Hello again Pinkfresh friends!

Raquel here again with some ideas to add some extra texture and color to your designs using hot foil plates.

I've used hot foil backgrounds in the past but this time I wanted to add color and use that color to create some interest to the whole design:

For my first design I used the Quadrant Backdrop hot foil  with Matte Silver Hot foil and used the coordinating stencils to create my background.

I wanted to create a soft muted background so I used Ballet Slipper, Soft Lilac, Cherry Blossom and Coral Reef. I used the coordinating die to cut out his piece and foam mounted onto a side folding note card.

Next up I also used the Nested Arched Hot foil with Satin Pastel Lavander Glimmer hot foil. I love the softness of this foil and I thought it was just perfect to add some extra color to the front panel. I only cut out the outer edge of this arch and decided to place the focal image on top. I'm using the Beautiful day Hot foil and the coordinating stencils also with Matte Silver Glimmer foil . The effect of this subtle glimmer is fabulous and it really looks beautiful with Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Cherry Blossom, Begonia,  Spruce Tips and Lush Forest.

I did some surgery with the Beautiful Day image and arranged the beautiful array of flowers onto my front panel. I added some Lilac Clear drops and stamp the sentiment from the set Best thing stamped in Detail Black.

I wanted to try another color combo with a different hot foil so I decided to create another design. This time I used the Overlapping Geo Leaf Hot foil and its coordinating stencils with Skybright glimmer foil. I went with a blue and purple combo which is one of my favorites: Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Sky Blue and Slumber

I wanted to keep my design simple so I just placed a circle from the Essentials Braided Circles die set in the middle to place some flowers from the Best Wishes hot foil. Using the coordinating stencils, I applied the same colors I used for my background with a heavier hand and added these little flowers around the circle front die. Of course I had to add some white heat embossed vellum details underneath these flowers using the Best Wishes stamp set .

I always create multiple flowers or backgrounds of whatever set I am using because I like to have extras so I end up with quite a few leftovers for future projects or tags. This time I created some fun tags with the Nested Hexagon Hot foil in Pastel Mint Glimmer Foil; the Foldable Shaker Tag die set, and the smallest of the Slim Ornate Banner set.

I hope you find these ideas inspiring and give them a try!

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafting,

Raquel

I love that purple foiling with the soft ink blended background, and the brighter flowers. What an amazing combination. Very striking. Ps. I have that purple foil that was included in a pack with some other colours. And have used the other colours but never the purple. Now I am very much inspired to use it! Thanks so much for the inspiration.
