Ornate Trellis Gradient backgrounds

Ornate Trellis Gradient backgrounds

29 Dec 2023 1 comment

Hi friends!

Raquel here today with more colorful backgrounds inspiration.

I wanted to play with the new Ornate Trellis Press Plate and use it as a backdrop for my designs. You can apply color to this press plate and it has lots of texture so the posibilities are endless.

For my first design, I decided to create a frame with lots of tiny flowers on top of this press plate using a light salmon Ornate Banner diecut.

I created all my backgrounds with the Ornate Trellis Press Plate in the same way: instead of tapping the ink pad onto the press plate I thought I'd apply the ink with a blending brush from the bottom left side to the upper right side . After running the chase through my die cutting machine I was surprised how well the ink was transferred to the paper; so smoothly and so neat. Instead of inking the whole Press Plate, I thought I'd just add color to some parts creating a gradient background. I didn't mix any color this time, I just used Begonia (with a light hand) but that could also be another fun technique.

I die cut this Ornate Trellis background with its coordinating die and foam mounted my Ornate Banner Die on top. If you've seen my previous cards, you'll recognize this set. It's the Butterfly Garden Stamp Set. I colored it using Sweet Mustard, Cherry Blossom and Begonia and tucked them underneath the ornate frame. For my sentiment I used one of the Wonderful Sentilments hot foil and added some greenery using the Curvy Foliage die with the new Blush Glitter cardstock. Lastly I also added some  blush Glitter drops.

Following the same technique I create some more designs:

For this background I inked up the Ornate Trellis Press Plate with Sky Blue. I also used the Butterfly Garden Stamp Set to frame the sentiment and tied everything with a darker blue Stiched Scalloped Square frame.

For this mini slimline, I used Citron to add color to the Ornate Trellis Press Plate background. I used the Brighter Days Hot foil with Citron, Cherry Blossom, Sunkissed, Turquoise and Paradise inks and tied everything with the Scalloped Mini Slimline Rectangle.

For my last design, I inked up the Ornate Trellis Press Plate applying  Waterfall ink on the edges of my background and again framed my Brighter Days Hot foil flowers, this time with the Stiched Scalloped Rectangle Die set.

I hope these designs inspire you to try this technique!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Raquel

Thanks for sharing this technique. I know what I’m going to be doing with my press plates next time! It’s so neat to discover everything we can do with these plates!
