Inventive Way to Showcase Large Floral Clusters | Jody Morrow

Sometimes a single stamped image can transform into something completely new with a little creativity. In this tutorial, I’ll share how I turned a large floral cluster into a striking diagonal design by cutting it into four pieces. Each quarter is arranged on a postage stamp die cut, leaving airy space between sections while still feeling cohesive. A bold sentiment bridges the quadrants, pulling the design back together. To finish, I added a gradient ink-blended background with subtle white paint spatter for extra movement and texture.

How to recreate this card: 

1. Cut and fold an A2 top-folding card base from white cardstock.
2. Die cut (4) 1 15/16" square postage die cuts from white cardstock.
3. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8".
4. Die cut a white panel using the second-largest Essentials: Single Stitched Rectangles die.
5. Softly ink blend with Coral Reef on the upper part of the panel, fading to Passion Fruit on the lower half. Nicely blend the area they meet. Spatter with white pant and set aside to dry. 
6. Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock using Detail Black ink; die cut sentiment, 1 white blank, and 1 black blank. Stack white layers and adhere, offset, to the black blank.
7. Stamp the flower cluster with Rocky Slope. Add color using the coordinating stencils:
   • Stencil 1: Cherry Blossom, Peony, Begonia
   • Stencil 2: Peach Fuzz, Clementine, Persimmon
   • Stencil 3: Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, Berrylicious
   • Stencil 4: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine
   • Stencil 5: Tidal Pond
   • Stencil 6: Begonia
8. Die cut the floral cluster with the coordinating die. Cut into 4 pieces (quartered) with paper trimmer.
9. Adhere the flower quarters to the corner of the (4) square postage die cuts with foam tape.
10. Adhere the squares in a diagonal format to the ink-blended panel; trim off excess hanging off the edge.
11. Adhere the decorated panel to the black panel.
12. Adhere the sentiment to the flowers with liquid glue.
13. Adhere the panel to the card base using foam tape.
14. Embellish with clear drops.

This design shows how you can take one large floral image and completely reinvent it. By quartering the bloom cluster and arranging it on a postage stamp die, you create both movement and balance. The sentiment acts as a unifying element, while the ink-blended background adds a soft yet eye-catching finish.
