Elegant White-on-White Card Design | Anne Fiene

Hi everyone! I created a lovely, white-on-white card with just a few areas of soft color, as strictly white-on-white ended up looking rather uninteresting to me. I started this project by creating that cute little clock from the Good Times stamp set, then I added a charming, scripty sentiment from the same set, and built from there.

The added die-cuts, whether colored or not, are quite dimensional and therefore provide shadows, which add interest to this (mostly) white-on-white card. The tiny dots and flowers help to lend a playful appearance, rather than an austere one.

Let's get started:

1. Use the Good Times stamp with a light ink color to stamp the image of the small clock. Leave the stamp in your stamping platform.
2. Color in the image using the Good Times stencil set. I'll have the colors I used listed below.
3. Put the colored image back into the stamping platform and use Detail Black ink to stamp over it.
4. Use the Good Times die set to cut out the clock.
5. Use black ink to stamp a sentiment from the set, then the coordinating die to cut it out.
6. I used the Garden Party and Stylized Floral die sets for blooms, branches, and dots. And colored just a few of each using Ballet Slipper, but left most of the die-cuts white. I also made the inside dot of the small flowers orange, using Apricot ink.
7. I used the ends of some paintbrushes to gently shape and curl the branches and flowers.
8. I used the Dotted Fancy Frames for a centering piece to place the sentiment and flowers on and around.
9. I started to arrange everything to see how I would like it, then decided to blend a bit of ink onto the topping panel, underneath one of the flowers, and the clock. I also brushed a little bit of Ballet Slipper in the center of one of the flowers.
10. I trimmed down the topping panel of white cardstock to 3 1/2 X 4 3/4 in.
11. I wrapped a white ribbon around the opposite corners of the topping panel, taping it to the back of the card with Scotch tape. And adhered the panel to an A2-sized cardbase using fun foam and double-sided tape.
12. I used more foam tape to center and adhere the frame die cut, and began arranging and gluing all the pieces.

An elegant white-on-white card can be made less austere with dimensional die-cuts and just a few areas of soft color.
